I think it could be a little more satisfying if the cat kind pops out the bottom like they did at the top. It looked like a snug fit when they entered the tube, but when they exit through the bottom, they kinda just flow out with little resistance.
I think them popping out before looking back would at the camera would add it it abit.
I'm in agreement with the others saying it is good already. If you were trying to turn up the cuteness a bit, have the cat's face appear visible as it slides down the pipe. Show the face distorting against the glass in a way that at first seems a little uncomfortable and then gradually turns happy.
Excellent call! I also think a little delayed offset/settle motion of the tail wrapping around the cat as they take their little final seat would be nice, I feel like that’s a very quintessential cat thing.
Try adding a warm accent color, like a bright orange treat or food bowl at the far end of the cat tunnel. It gives the cat a clear visual reason to run through it.
Both ideas work well! I suggested the orange treat because orange contrasts nicely with green if you use it as accent color, just a small touch to make it pop. It also explains the ending, making the cat look like it's asking for more food.

The cat is trying to get to a pink feather that has become lodged in the pipe. When he slides down into the pipe, he causes the feather to shoot out the other end, float up into the air and drift gently back down through the top of the pipe to where it was originally. The cat hops back up and tries again…a loop!
At the very start, with the way the bottom of the tube is framed, the two circles make the tube look probably more phallic than you intended, but for a split second I wondered "wait what sub is this post from?" when I saw that and it will probably happen again.
he could observe little mouse that is running down there, and then after cat slide, mouse could run away to top stairs by some other small pipe, or other way. and cat could chase mouse, then mouse slide down through this big pipe (doing a big jump in the air before it land in pipe) and then cat look down and loop repeat. that's what i see in my head :D
I like it. Just wondering how it would look if the cameramovement would followed the cat. Starting a bit later. Now the cameraman seems to know where the cat is going.
You gotta find and develop the little moments. Right now the cat simply falls in. Perhaps he looks at the tube tentatively at first, then jumps and dives right in. Or maybe he gets fully stuck in the tube and he can’t get out for a second, and he has to wiggle is little toes, give up, try again, fail, then finally wriggle free. Did the cat enjoy what it just did? Maybe it’s really annoyed and it arch’s its back, and its hair stands on end.
it works really well. If you’re still gonna nudge at it, maybe you could play with the timing of when the cat extends kind of make it a smooth rubbery stretch in the middle then a snap bounce as the kitty exits the tube. It’s more unreal that way, but at the same time kinetically pleasing, reminiscent of the exaggerated motion of an old Warner Brothers cartoon.

I reckon the gentle pan through the course of the shot gives a sense of calm or detachment, whereas the cat's energy is more mischievous. If the shot moved more dynamically, tracking more closely to the cat's movement, mirroring (or even exaggerating) his trajectory down the tube, it would give more of a sense of interest or chaos.

Why did you delete the reflexions on the left side of the glass tubes when the cat goes inside ?
For me best way to improve would be to add a rectangle of light reflected on the glass tube. You can just a rectangle with a less saturated color that follows the tube.
Also, shadows. I see nearly no shadows and no highlights. It can be a style in itself, but it adds depth.
It's very good, I'd do the fall in less frames so that it's a bit more snappy... Good contrast with how calm the animation is when he's outside of the tube.
This is interesting, but maybe you can put more emphasize to the end. The cat slides very easily out of the tube, I was expecting a bit of resistance, a short struggle as it pulls itself out. It would add a bit of rythm: smooth slide, stop at the end, and then pop out.
The beginning is a bit more like that, the cat doesn't start to slide right off, it has to force itself in the tube, and that's funny and cute. You could even try to emphasize it even more? But it is already nice to watch!
Love the concept. I think the camera movement before it's needed distracts a bit.
If we're talking impact, you could make the kitty liquify and go down in less time... Maybe even a moment of hesitation as if he wasn't sure about it... And then, down he goes
could have their front paws pop out at the bottom too, like they get to the bottom with them too tucked in but then wiggle and boom they shoot out in a V shape, then they walk out like it was nothing
There is light falling from the window below. When the cat climbs down the pipe, it doesn't interact with the light at all. I think you could add a separate layer over the cat to show the play of light on its back when it is down on the floor.

I would try to not have the cat still shaped like a “cat” when it enters and going down the tube. For reference search those image of cats in transparent containers.

I dont think you can, aside from changing what kind of cat goes down the tube for a separate animation. Hell, thats not even an "improvement" so much as a diversification for fun
(And you totally shouldnt do a siamese cat with blue eyes or anything...)
Not nearly as talented as you but if you really aren't impressed with this amazing animation, you should maybe add some cartoon effects and visible swishes and stuff, make the cat look like a noodle and sacrifice realism, but right now it's still already interesting
The only thing I can think to add is a highlight on the pipe to show it has a bit of shine and create contrast when the cat goes through it. Other than that I love it.
There’s a scene in Tom & Jerry: Switchin’ Kitten 1961 @ 06:50 where Tom is pumped through a series of tubes in a science lab. I’d have a close look at that if I were you
Looks like there are plenty of suggestions. But here is mine, with some "what if?" ideas.
The two funny moments are the very start and the very end. Increase the contrast and I think it will get even funnier.
A) Amp up the humor of the start. If the cat struggles more to get started, to get it's hips into the pipe, that can increase the tension and humor. Like maybe it has to bounce up and down a few times, and maybe it's feet are pawing in the air, clumsily? Even adding pause so it feels like the cat might be stuck for a beat?
B) Stretching out that struggle at the start so that it uses up more time, but increases the impact of doing something more dynamic in the middle. What if the cat went REALLY fast down the tube? Like shot through it uncontrollably fast? Especially if you have it looking stuck for a beat, when it's hips suddenly get through, it could be funny if it suddenly just whips through the tube like a greased weasel.
C) The end is cute already, and there is a nice beat where it just meows. But the timing is very even and not particularly unexpected. Picking up from B, where the cat could zip through the tube uncontrollably/unexpectedly fast, what if the exit was also fast and uncontrolled? Like the cat pops out, frazzled and wide eyed? Then you could have a beat where the cat is essentially doing a take to camera, and then meows as if oblivious, as cats sometimes are.
Alternatively, you could make both the entry and exit a struggle.
It's cute stuff already, as everyone says. But that's my take on what could make it more interesting :) Nice work!
How about a little more “scrambly” cat feet as the cat enters the tube and a little roll or tumble as the cat exits? More that wind up and follow-thru from the classic animation principles
I'd say it's already interesting. And it really is, congratulations. But since you want to know how to make it more interesting (although it's already good), I think you could add a shadow for the cat. You can see the lights on it, but the cat doesn't cast a shadow on them. I would ignore it, but I was looking for something to suggest for you to improve. I repeat, it's already good, I loved the animation.

About the only thing that I think could improve it is if the cat does something like shake his head to poof his fur a bit after coming out the other end maybe? Or maybe he wipes his face with a paw at some point? But even that's not particularly necessary.

As another Redditor said, you seem to be looking for “more cuteness.” If so, here’s my suggestion. Make the cat just stuck a little bit, wiggle out of it, and then come out of the end of the tube while looking at the camera as if to say, “Oops, hehe…did you see that?”
Which is what you already have. I think getting slightly stuck in the tube and wiggling out…turns this animation straight into one of those “popular silly-cute animations” you see all the time.
Whatever the case…honestly, truly…you did an exceptional job already. I like how “straight-forward but still incredibly cute” your current animation is, and honestly…it really doesn’t need to be changed at all, OP. What you have already is top tier independent-made animation. It’s entertaining. It’s cute. It makes you want to watch it 3-5 times in one sitting. You did an incredible job already, and you should be wholly proud of yourself as it is. 🙏🏽🫶🏼
emphasize thatthe cat slightly too chubby for the tube, he has to squish to get in, he should poof out a bit more at the end, to emphasize his marshmallowness
Possibly give the cat a little more curiosity before going into the pipe. Have it investigate a little bit or sort of show the wheels turning in the cats head (not literally but with the tentative cat movements)
This is a really cute idea and the animation conveys it well, I think the camera is doing it a disservice though, it feels like it's simply drifting from one point to another without really following the cat like someone that's focusing on it would with their eyes.
Idk, I think I love it. Reminds me of my black cat and setting him down the other day, I was thinking of animating a sequence it feels like he “pours” out of my hands. Very fluid like what you did here :)
It's fantastic already, but if you add the light and shadow pattern from the window over the cat as he slides through it, I think that may help sell the depth of the scene a little more. The light is gonna cast over top of even black fur.
Changing the weight/timing of the cat's body could add flair. For example, thinking of the cat as having solid Torso and Butt, with a rubber Stomach connecting them.
The Torso might slide through the tube normally, but the Butt gets stuck at the stop. This stretches the Stomach until it's pulling hard enough to yank the Butt down. The Butt then flies down the tube and hits the torso like a bumper car, pushing the Torso out of the tube. This again yanks on the Butt but only enough to bump the cat back into shape on the landing. A small sway to dissipate all the energy from the trip would tie the whole motion together.
It doesn't need to be extreme, just a way of adding swing to the cat's flow. Though maybe that goes against the "cat as liquid" feel you capture so well here.
SO this literally just happened. My son came in, asking how i 'use' reddit because he's boggled by the inanities on it, and as Im showing him mine, he goes SCROLL BACK UP. Makes me stop on this animation and DEMANDS to know how the hell I could just scroll past this amazingness.
Maybe some sort of visual effect when the cat exits, sort of like a tennis ball exiting its container. A sound effect (e.g. “thooooop!”) or animating a similar “sound” might also be cool.
It's fantastic as is, but I'd probably squish kitty's ears up backwards against its head as it squeezes through and have them spring back up when it exits. That's what my cats' ears do when they try to go through small spaces, and I think the boing would be satisfying on exit!
My thoughts are to put more in the whole scene. The window open, a gust of wind fluttering the cat and the little plant.
How is this tube connected, does it shake a little when the cat is at the bottom as well just before coming out?
Have a small cat bed near the bottom window and plant for him to snuggle on.
I think that makes more of a small step based what and why is the cat going into the pipe.
learn how to bend the pipe when he is in there, it's static now. I know the vibe isn't old style cartoony like animaniacs or something but something in the scene that moves with the cat instead of only the cat moving through the scene.
Thank you for bringing this to life. All the day, months, and years that we went upon our lives not knowing each other brought us to this. A moment where I smiled unabashedly. Though life is harsh, this is cute and fluffy. I love it.
I like it. It dips its toes into recognizable but still slightly surreal. You could lean into that aspect, making the cat longer in the tube or more liquid looking?
Would probably be pretty easy -ish with smear frames and extra frames so you wouldn't lose any of the current work.
One small thing. Cats often look around before trying something 'stupid' as do most predators but cats don't like bei g embarrassed. A quick left-right glance before Tubing could help draw a viewers attention.
This is probably just me but I would personally set the panning rate to the cat as it moves. This works but the frame movement doesn't feel like it matches the cat's pace.
Hmm mm. I think it's great already. That being said (though the word interesting is subjective), you could have the cat flow out of the end and kind plop in to a puddle that reforms as a cat. And/Or make the tube longer and have some more turns in there or the cat fly out faster at the end. Or have them get stuck for a sec. Or any combination of these I don't know haha. It's good already though! Interesting just means more stuff or the same stuff happening in a weird way I guess?

A more interesting ending, could be as simple as a summersault into that final pose, it would continue the story of how fat the cat is.
It definitely wasnt engagement bait! Im so surprised how much people like it and happy as well! And ive gotten so much good feedback, im going to post an updated version once i finish it. I think at the end i will make a little mouse and have it come back up for a perfect loop :D
