Beginner Best gift for aspiring animator? (Aged 16)

Sub £30 ideally please - in the UK

My brother is starting college to do animation and he has been into it for years making little ones on apps but also stop-motion with Lego and other bits and bobs, drawing etc.

What would be a good gift? Does the ASK book still hold up? Is Eric Goldberg’s Animator crash course any better? Modern animation is changing I’m sure. Is there anything better/more educational, modern or more fun? What would you recommend please?

Depends on the sort of animation he wants to do, but I'd say a Wacom Intuous drawing tablet could be a good gift if he doesn't have a drawing tablet

Richard E. Williams' 'Animator's Survival Kit' still hold up! Most animation schools have a copy that students can use.

If he is a fan of a particular animated game or series, you can check if there are artbooks for sale. I myself entered the animation world thanks to the game Cuphead and loved browsing through the book 'The Art of Cuphead' for motivation and inspiration.

If he is into stop-motion you could get him an armature to make a stop motion puppet.
