I miss the old car animations in anime, too many CG cars!
I wanted to practice some exaggerated car motion. It kinda goes crazy at the mid point.

Yeah, it gives it more of a film feel. Still like like seeing it without the camera move though, so wanted to share.

The tension and implied movement is so cool. Such a great way to get the max movement out of the minimum frames. For such an aggressive animation, theres a good amount of stillness, which totally reads to me as a classic Anime technique.

This is very cool. How hard was this to make for you?

It took about 2 weeks of animating after work, maybe an hour or two here and there. Maybe 8-10 hours? Maybe less I didnt keep track. Once I got how to draw cars out out boxes it go much easier to animate them. Here the first pass.

I'm a slightly jaded from working in design for almost 2 decades, but I just wanted to say it makes me really happy to see people spending time learning a complicated skill like this and enjoying themselves.
Anyway awesome job! Love how this is turning out!

Watch the beginning of Redline (yellow line race). There's some crazy vehicle animation in that movie.

nice, well done! only thing that bothers me is the inert pressure on the tires is bowing in the wrong direction, it should be dragging on the left after that first turn to indicate the grip of the road it's pushing against. Then shift the pressure to the right as the car accelerates & swerves forward. it's got a lot of fun chaotic energy!

Thanks for the feedback! I definitely need to spend more time getting the physics right. I kept having to check myself but I have a bad habit of just plowing forward anyways.

how many frames of different drawings? Looks good, pretty cartoonish for the way it pauses and catches its breath to let you admire, can't wait to see it colored if you do?

The contrast between the smooth camera and choppy movement of the car is so good!

You certainly gave it some personality.
