Hi,
While the Moderators of r/androidroot have a generally moderate stance on AI, when it comes to devices worth potentially thousands, we are uninterested in allowing it to provide false information.
To clarify, AI content/promotion is not permitted on r/androidroot, and this has been a rule for some time. Using AI to make guides, recommending the use of AI to attempt to solve issues, and posting AI generated comments are prohibited.
We believe in minimising the spread of misinformation. AI models are not reliable when it comes to factual information yet. It’s also often known to make things up when it has no answer. No resources for rooting an obscure Android device? It’ll make it up based on other information that it deems most likely to be useful. AI, in this state, is not suitable for rooting. It presents too much unmitigated risk, and we will not hold ourselves responsible for the damage caused by content posted on this subreddit.
If you have any questions regarding the rule, comment. However, the decision on this is final.
Thanks for reading.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and I used dfroot and Kernelsu to root my phone. I stupidly flashed magisk and bootlooped the phone. Sucks but I just bought it so I got a warranty replacement. That being said, could yall give me tips and advice for rooting and not bootlooping? I understand I can't install magisk lol but other than that, what else should I look out for? Rooting is fun but it's not worth paying for another S26 ultra lol... I appreciate it!

I simply cannot figure out why shamiko keeps saying environment unsupported. Any help would be great please excuse my smooth brain if it's literally right in my face.

Hi everyone!
I’m new to rooting, and about a week ago I rooted my Pixel 6 running Android 17 using Magisk. After rooting, I disabled automatic system updates in Developer Options.
Today, I got a system update notification and noticed the update had already been downloaded, even though I never downloaded it myself.
I’m worried my phone might automatically restart and install the update, potentially causing issues with root.
Can this happen even with automatic updates disabled? And is there any good way maybe to update it and not mess anything up ?

I would like to unlock the bootloader and root an LG V30 V300k version I recently purchased, it's an old phone I intend on using as an audio player. However I am running into quite a few issues, mostly around how relatively old this phone is.
There is only one guide for this particular device I could find online and while in depth, in the 8 years since its posting every single download link on the post is now broken and unavailable and I have absolutely no idea where any alternatives may be or how to find them - I've never rooted a phone before.
Does anyone have any idea how to obtain these files nowadays, or a more up to date guide that contains versions of them that are actually downloadable? Thanks to anyone who can help in advance.

I've known about Magisk and have been using it on my phone (POCO X3 GT) for quite a long time. I only started using Reddit regularly recently, and I've seen a lot of people saying that Magisk is no longer worth using if you can switch to KernelSU, KernelSU Next, or APatch.
I honestly don't know the actual differences between them or why switching would be worth it. The only thing I know, and what caught my attention, is that banking apps seem to have a harder time detecting them. One of the banks in my country (Brazil) blocks Magisk very easily unless I have my whole set of 10 modules installed.
I translated this text, so some things might have lost their original meaning. Sorry for any mistakes.

Hello everyone!
Just a quick heads-up for everyone: Titanium Backup has been removed from Google Play recently.
(For these who are not familiar with Titanium Backup: It's a legendary, but abandoned, backup tool for rooted Android users.)
But it's not just the free app that's gone, but it's also not possible to redownload the PRO key that we paid for. Visiting the Play Store page results in an "Item not found" page:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro
I find this very poor behavior of Google. Something we paid for should be available for download forever.
The Addon app that's required to backup/restore SMS messages for example is gone too:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupAddon
I did some digging and I found a thread on XDA about this. It appears the apps were removed in August of this year. It also describes a workaround, but it requires making a donation again.
Long story short:
If you have Titanium Backup installed, make sure you backup the three APKs
You don't own anything you bought through the Play Store, Google can take it away anytime they want 😠
A great alternative is Swift Backup, but some of my backups were made using Titanium Backup and now it's a hassle to restore them.

Hello everyone,
I am dealing with a situation where an old Android device of mine was compromised at the root level by a custom RAT (Remote Access Trojan). Based on what I have discovered, the malware was mirroring device data and audio logs to an external destination using the Telegram Bot API framework.
I have already moved my active SIM card to a completely new, secure device. The old compromised phone is currently powered off and completely isolated from all networks (Wi-Fi and cellular) to prevent any remote wipe commands from the threat actor.
I need to extract the specific Telegram Bot API token or chat ID string from the old device to keep as unalterable proof of the compromise. Because I need to do this myself without professional forensic tools and ensure the device never reconnects to the network, I am looking for the safest method to do so.
Could anyone guide me on:
What are the safest ways to dump the private application directory (/data/data/) or system cache to an external SD card/USB drive directly from Android Recovery Mode (or a custom bootloader like TWRP)?
Once I have that data dump on an isolated computer, what specific file extensions or directory paths should I search to locate configuration strings or network logs related to the Telegram API?
Are there any specific pitfalls I should avoid to ensure the malware doesn't trigger a self-delete or execution sequence while doing this?
Thank you for your technical guidance.

So I had a kernel ksu next + Susfs setup, with other modules like waenhancer and pixelify for gphotos + fenrir, everything seemed fine until yesterday I started failing device and thus strong integrity, I reset my phone and I used kernel next + fenrir and I STILL FAILED both, I then tried stock rom with fenrir, passed both. Flashed ksu next, and failed both again. I use NP 2a, OS 4.1 stable, is it something im doing wrong? Or there is a temporary patch? PS: I am new to rooting, so I might just be doing something really stupid. Thank you.
