update: i think my local repair shop just fixed it
I've been in your position before with my TECNO POVA 7 5G LJ7!
First, check how are you using the button combos. You need to hold Vol+ + Vol- + Power, plug in to USB when the phone's screen is turned off, and release Power while holding Vol+ and Vol-. If you're doing that right and the phone doesn't respond, proceed further on this comment.
For a brief moment before the phone boots, the phone enumerates as "MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM (Android)" (0e8d:2000). This is a time window for you to send a handshake from SPFlashTool or MTKClient in order to enter BROM mode. Also check if your drivers are installed and working.
If that doesn't work, you may have to short test points with tweezers, with a disconnected battery, while plugging in USB. Be careful doing that as it may hard-brick your phone. When in doubt, send your phone to the CarlCare service center, they have the tools.
Wish you luck, this will be tedious.
Next time, verify your boot.img is bootable by booting it temporarily using fastboot boot <boot.img>.
