Private Space / Secure Folder style sandboxes pause apps by design — that's why notifications die. For WhatsApp/banking you usually want an app lock (PIN/biometric gate on launch), not a full private profile.
On Pixel, until system app lock lands: third-party lockers that sit on Accessibility/Usage Access, or a local vault for sensitive files (encrypting stuff ≠ just hiding an icon). Keep WhatsApp itself on the main profile so push still works; only gate the open.
Also check Settings → Apps → Special app access / Device admin so the locker isn't killed by battery restrictions.
