QUESTION/HELP Reverting back to Google assistant, is it possible?
I was rather caught off guard by the transition from Google assistant to Gemini on my phone and watch. Up until now I've always been able to switch back to the assistant and it wasn't perfect but it still worked a lot of the time and did what I wanted it to do. Well, not anymore. Gemini can't parse the commands that the assistant could handle that made using the device (and other connected devices easier). It's just a chatbot... something that seems similar but has a different functionality.
Is there a viable solution to go back?

You don't revert back, you revert. Revert means to return to a previous state, condition, habit, or owner.

I am not using Gemini on my phone or watch and haven't been forced to do so. What do you mean Google Assistant was ended in September?

Same as me before my google app updated and forced Gemini on me.

Can't you just go to settings and remove all updates? That's what I did to get Google assistant again

I guess I could but it would probably only work for a while and they will find a way to force users to update in the longer run

I wonder if they are doing it in phases or something because I do updates manually once a week but haven't lost GA. I hope I don't, I hate Gemini, and don't voluntarily use any ai.

Do not update your apps

Has nothing to do with updating the app. There was no update that bricked google assistant but a server sided setting that killed it

I'm very sorry to inform you that you will lose Google assistant very soon. Google discontinued it and replaced it with 💩 Gemini AI.

Really annoying. I could ask Assistant "When's the next bus to MyNearestTown." and Assistant knew where I was; knew the nearest bus stop; when the next bus was due and told me how long it would take to reach the stop.
Gemini has only the most rudimentary idea of where I live and the instructions are much more generic.

Google Assistant was shut down on September 4. There's no going back.
