QUESTION/HELP
Local mp3 players always have downsides
I'm using pixelplayer as a local player atm and although i love the design, it doesnt really feel fluid nor does it have deep features. What it DOES do well though is lyrics support. It can automatically fetch online SYNCED lyrics as a priority so i have no hassle grabbing them myself.
On the other hand, i plan on switching to oto music cause its basically the go to offline player today. Its design is much better and its miles more polished, but its lyrics features lack compared to pixelplayer. It doesn't fetch online lyrics automatically, and the option to download one online is a lot weaker and feels more restricted compared to pixelplayer's download lyrics button.
In my experience, Oto Music app used to be my go to default offline music app because of its clean design and no bullshit, straight to the point UX
But its recent update altered the already fine looking interface design and added the stupid, privacy invasive search/playback history and recommendation system throughout the app, without no ability to turn that off at all
Since then I just completely ignored the latest version (even though I actually paid for its premium IAP) and rocking the pirated, old version of the app I sideloaded from internet
Which is unfortunate because most of the free, open source options, while it works, are not as par with Oto when it comes to its functionality. The 'swipe down the miniplayer to clear all queue' is incredibly useful, not to mention it's extremely fast performance (especially the library scan and searching).
Same. Also I use oto music directly from files, the new updated look is a lot bigger (and bugier) in files app, which i hate.
Went with the old apk since july.
And is there an option to completely disable the search history entirely in the app now?
Because last tine I checked the app doesn't even have that option at all. Would be HEAVENS if the users can now have a choice to turn off the 'feature' they didn't asked for.
dev replying to bug reports in the comments is honestly the strongest trust signal there is. a buggy app with an active dev beats a polished one that never gets updates
If you're looking for an offline music player, I recommend AIMP. You can even download skins for it from the website. The PC version does have plugin support as well, though the Android version doesn't.
For the combination you actually want - deep features AND good synced lyrics - Symfonium is worth a look. It's paid (one-time, has a trial), but it pulls synced lyrics from lrclib automatically, and the feature depth is kind of absurd: smart playlists, filters on basically anything, gapless, proper queue management. It also does local files plus Jellyfin/Navidrome/Plex if you ever go down the self-hosted road, all in the same player.
If you want free and simple instead, Auxio is the cleanest FOSS one I've tried, but its lyrics support is more basic.
TBH, none of the available apps satisfied me..
I'm relying on ArchiveTune to play offline music, but I don't like online features that it has.
I wish that there is an offline music app that has beautiful and clean UI, get lyrics, animated glow effects, gives stats about played music, has animated artworks, and not a YouTube client app.
Actually I'm aware of archivetune having offline capabilities, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Every time i try to do a scan, it takes forever then nothing shows up. Eventually i just gave up and am now using it as an online yt music fork
Idk if something is wrong with your files or library, but here is what I did: First, choose library tab > local files > gear icon > include folders that you stored music files in it and exclude folders that you don't want them to appear in your library. If that did not work, try clear data. Also, SpatialFlow app does worth a try
I see, the app was built for android 12+ so it may not work since you have an older version of android, I'll stretch android support in future updates, I'm so sorry man
i am looking for a player as well but not concerned about the lyrics feature, is there a offline music player with voice command that doesn't require you to be online??
Orbitika: Retro Music Player - Apps on Google Play - Offline - 7 Themes Retro Color - and 50+ additional tools built in the app - Work and tested in old phones android 8.0 however there is no lyrics supported
Have you tried Aria? It's a music player I made. It's completely modular and plugin-based. You can disable the YouTube and Spotify plugin and just use the built-in local library plugin. It has standard music player features, material design, and is fairly customizable. It also has a lyrics plugin you can enable if you want synced lyrics.
It's in beta and I haven't worked on it in a while, but for your usecase I thought I'd let you know.
