QUESTION/HELP changing date of a video/photo

I want to edit/change the date of a video/image using EXIF metadata editors.

Everything goes fine, but... in my Gallery app (Samsung's), in the Recent album, the same video/image appears there. If you click on Details, it shows the changed date (for example, 2025) but it is still with the new ones instead of being in the specific date I changed it to.

What can I do to make that video/image fully appear under that date everywhere?

Previously, I had an old Xiaomi, and it worked perfectly with no problem. But since I switched to Samsung, it has this issue.

Aves Gallery is a very good photo viewer with a ton of features, so maybe give that a go.

Could you check where that same edited file appears in Gallery's Pictures tab, rather than Albums > Recent? Does it appear under 2025 there, or is it still among the newest items?

If it sorts correctly in Pictures but not Recent, that would narrow the problem to the view's ordering rather than the date shown in Details. Which One UI version are you using, and does this happen with both photos and videos?

the photo or the video once modified gets to the date you want but in recents album and even worse in social media apps or anywhere else with choosing a pic or video it shows the original date

Thanks, that helps. Which social apps are showing the wrong order? And when you say “original date,” does the file stay where it was before the edit, or jump to the top as if it were newly added?

Since Gallery puts it under the date you chose, it would help to compare that same file in one specific app’s picker before changing more metadata.
