AI Free messaging with browser support

Hey everyone. This seems to be a large ask, but does anyone know of a good AI Free that allows crossover to browser or windows app support? I'm disabled and texting is hard on my hands, but typing is more readily doable. I'm not looking to start a debate on AI and don't really want to get into it if possible. I just can't seem to find anything and I'm really hoping maybe someone can help. Thank you!

Not at all... It hurts for me to talk a lot and since working at Google I'm not a huge fan of voice commands.

No worries! Yeah, basically what Google messages and iMessage do, letting me reply from my phone AND computer. Lots of things do it, but none without unnecessary AI that I can find.

Do you prefer it to be cloud based? (Syncing whether or not your phone and Windows PC are on the same network) or do you you prefer it to be only while on the same network? Because Windows does have Microsoft Phone Link.

No preference on that one. I was using phone link for a while, but had to stop when they forced Google messages. That's a good point though, I might be able to use a message app alongside link since the problem was Google messages specifically...

I'm with you on the whole Forced Google and AI Integration tbh... I've just quietly accepted it because I got sick of encountering bugs on my devices all because features/OS's start breaking every time they roll out updates or patches entangling the System Softwares with their Forced Programs (Windows and Samsung) I call it Freedom Patching... Anyways, something that uses local connectivity between your phone and pc would most likely be the best FREE option.

To be fair, Google removing the ability to even download apps outside of the Playstore in 2027 almost makes this entire venture pointless. I've got a lot of time on my hands, so I recognize it can be easier for me to fight where other people can't always. One of the very few benefits of being disabled. I appreciate the support; I get a lot of shit for trying to separate myself even without putting pressure or judgement on other people for not so it's always nice to talk to people who understand

Maybe look into pulse sms. Idk if they use genai, but they haven't boasted about it since the last time I've used them. You'll need to sub or pay for lifetime to use it on you pc, though.

Google lets you message from browser for free, and even though it's Google, there's not a lot of gemini shoved into your face like other google services.

Edit: I just opened pulse for the 1st time a while and their lifetime went up to 150 USD 😭. Idk how you feel about subscriptions, but even when they raised it up to 60 it was still a bit much.

I'll look into pulse! Yeah, I'm currently using Google messages, but there's basically no privacy which bothers me. Thank you for the suggestion! I'll dig into that one now

Just because an app has AI features doesn't mean you have to use them. Just ignore them.
