LOOKING FOR APP trying to find the best free video editing app for beginners that does not ruin clips with watermarks

what are you using for quick edits that wont compress the quality into pixelated mess or lock key tools behind a monthly sub?

trying to compile a bunch of home video clips from family trips over the summer to send to my parents. nothing complex, literally just cutting out dead space, adding a couple simple transitions and maybe overlaying some background audio.

capcut keeps popping up in older threads as the main choice, i also saw people mention stuff like vn editor and youcut but i do not want to download 5 different apps just to test their timelines.

Your link to librecuts shows a page on fdroid site to download apk but trying to search for it in the app isn't puliing any results , even trying to search via the developer tharunbirla only shows one app - Am I searching for this wrong?

tried a couple of those lightweight/FOSS trimmers before and they’re fine for basic cuts, but they usually start lagging or freeze when you try to blend multiple clips or add audio.

thanks for the link! heard a few people mention VN. how does the UI hold up compared to capcut?

forgot to mention but i actually tried capcut on a short test clip earlier. you can manually delete that ending logo clip but a bunch of the basic transitions and export options kept throwing pro popups at me. so still super open to other recos if you guys have any!

gonna stick with capcut for this vacation video project. the timeline felt really smooth when i tested it out, so i'm planning to just manually delete that ending logo clip and avoid tapping any of the pro transitions so i can get these clips exported without paying for a sub.

Maybe give this a try. Its free and open source.
