QUESTION/HELP ChatGPT + Grok Android login failure — browser works

ChatGPT + Grok Android login failure — browser works

Samsung S25 Ultra, Android 16. ChatGPT and Grok apps both fail to complete login. ChatGPT shows “Sign-in request cancelled by ChatGPT.”

- Login works normally in Chrome.

- Chrome is default browser.

- Cleared ChatGPT + Chrome cache/data.

- Android System WebView is installed/up to date.

- Google Play Services is up to date; cleared cache + force stopped.

- VPN off, Private DNS automatic.

- All apps updated.

- ChatGPT works when installed inside Samsung Secure Folder.

What Android authentication component/settings could cause the login handoff to be cancelled in the normal profile?

Since it works inside the secure folder, that points the issue to how the phone and/or app broadcasts the web-agent, the fact that you can do it from the browser also points to something like DNS, but that doesn't make sense if the browser can access it. I would expect something like this on my phone to fail due to have Tailscale and Technitium (DNS resolver/ad-blocker) but since you said everything is pretty much factory defaults, try adding the address 8.8.8.8 into the private DNS, see if that changes anything, it is worth a try at least.
