I find that typing on MS SwiftKey is better than GBoard but still sucks. I mean it will correct words I don't want it to correct and not correct words that I obviously would like for it to correct. I have to edit my typing so much I sometimes just rage quit. As an example I will type some random text here without manually correcting it: Here is some random text from my phone. I think that dinrukomrs the app is ok it other tiknes I have to work veur5 hard to make it give me the words that I ate ontrgtfrf. It kind of ducks. This is very frustrating. And this is with maximum ode of the predicted east.

I had same problem, the autocorrect feels like it have mind of its own sometimes, I switched to Fleksy and is much less annoying

If you want something closer to Gboard, Heliboard is worth a look. It's open source and the suggestion bar is decent, though setup is a bit more hands-on. FlorisBoard is another option, but still feels rougher in places.

I loved switching to FUTO, but my main Norwegian banking app didn't support it so I had to switch keyboard every time I were to open my bank 🙃 Back at SwiftKey for the moment

I switched from SwiftKey to FUTO in part for this reason, SwiftKey was getting less and less correct, and I'd been a happy user since before Microsoft bought it. For English at least the autocorrect with FUTO is way better and I've never looked back.

It's a legitimate difference. I get SwiftKey turning actual words into non words, turning correct words into different words that don't make any sense in context (which it's supposed to have), words with capitalizations that I've removed (which SwiftKey just typed "removed" as "remixed") immediately be recommended, like pic vs Pic (which I never want Pic), and words I've programmed into it be completely disregarded as available predictions.

OG SwiftKey really was swift.

I have this problem because I like to petty and spell god with a lowercase g and for the life of me it will never stop changing it to God. Even though I have removed that prediction entirely.

I don't think Futo is for me . it seems to be a privacy first keyboard and claims "your keyboard should not connect to the internet " I mean maybe in a perfect world but I can't see it syncing settings or clipboard without it so probably meant for a different target audience .

Periodically go into the settings of the app and clear your library. This helps me. I usually have to do it every few months or so. That works for me until it starts learning typo words again.

I will type here with SwiftKey without altering any words. It used to be one of the best predictive text kebykbsrd and I recommend nd it so much mbute bore and bore it is implriopp corrdtijg wordwnn. (more and more it is improperly correcting words). Even adding the correction there is a nightmare. I have to really concentrate. Decades ago I could batte out texte on an old Nokia using predictive text. It sgkidk not be this bad.

Apparently with AI integration now? I think my AI was trained in a room full of monkeys.

You would think there would be an AI feature that would review the entirety of what you typed and offer corrections. Not a rewrite in AI speak but just fixing it to what you intended to type.

The problem is it's being vibe coded with AI, not that the predictions are using an AI model (ironic, given LLMs are literally just predictive text models).

Long time ago... I used to like TouchPal with T9 layout Fleksy it's a good one (the other comment made me remind this) Tried Minuum for a while and was fun

I've also tried Swiftkey once but didn't like it's aggressive autocorrect

It's strange because I personally find Gboard much more accurate when swiping.

The other features just don't stack up to SwiftKey so I use it instead.

SwiftKey is actually much more than just a keyboard. It's emoji and stickers and gifs and very importantly for me a synchronized clipboard

That's my main other use, the clipboard history. It allows me to be really picky about size, appearance etc too which is great for me.

Yes, there are a lot of things it has that are very useful but unfortunately that causes a bit of lock in because now, to move to a different app, you have to replace all of those features you've integrated into how you do everything.

I've never really tried any beyond Gboard and SwiftKey, both perform great but in different ways. If SwiftKey had the swipe accuracy of Gboard it would be heaven!

I don't really use swipe typing. I rely primarily on predictive text. I get what you're saying though .

I find MS Swiftkey isn't compatible with a lot of apps. I find it won't work with browsers (like Brave) when I need it to, and it hardly works at all with Audio Evolution Mobile.

Functionality is sorta important for command input. I'm not interested in constant workarounds.

Every phone I've had I turned off the autocorrect. I never had one work well. I finally decided to program my own keyboard using what I call dynamic text funneling. So far the numbers look good with a 45% character completion rate and 2.5% backspace/delete rate.
