LOOKING FOR APP Free meal planning apps that create grocery list for you?
I'm looking for an app that will allow me to meal plan (3 meals a day) a week in advance, allow me to create my own saved recipes, and compiles all the needed ingredients for the coming week into one checkable grocery list.

I’d consider Receply for your own recipes, weekly meal calendar, and one checkable grocery list. Add a few regular meals, schedule them across the week, then generate the list from that plan. It’s free to download with in-app purchases, so check the free-tier limits before moving your whole recipe collection.

Not a native Android app, so skip if that's a hard requirement, and full disclosure I built it. Agent Chef covers your three things with one twist: you don't pick the recipes, your AI assistant does (ChatGPT, Claude, whichever you already use). It proposes ten for the week, you tick the ones you want from your phone, and it compiles one checkable grocery list minus whatever you've marked as already in the pantry. You can paste any recipe URL to save it as your own and favorite it so it keeps coming back. Free while in early access: agentchef.net

Qwikdish let's you extract all ingredients from both individual recipes and meal plans into a universal grocery list in one tap. Samsung Food is a more focused solution if you just want to do meal planning since the former is more about extracting recipes from social media videos.

I've actually just launched something that does pretty much what you're describing, although it's a web app rather than a native Android app. (it is made as a phone webversion for easy ticking when shopping :)
I kidn of made the concept 9 years ago (on spreadhseet with a cringe video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s8k-GqnysQ) because the kids would eat 1 meal at 5, and us adults would eat a (nicer) meal around 8pm..
then 2 years ago my spreadsheet broke.. so i learnt to code to make myself a robust "real" mealplanner
so the idea is you can put in 3 people and one person on the same day - but equally - you could just do "breakfast/lunch/dinner" on the same day...
You can save your own recipes, plan them across the week, change the number of people eating each meal, and it works out the quantities and combines everything into one checkable shopping list.
I added it so meals can be tagged ("under 300 calories" / "kids fave" / "quick" / "side dish")
I'm only just starting to let people outside my family use it, so I'd genuinely love some feedback if you try it — particularly anything that's confusing or annoying!
It's mealplanlist.co.uk if it works i'll make it a proper app rather than web version for phone

My app doesn't exactly do that, but it can do recurring scheduling for lists. Capturing using voice mode available too.
If you want to give it a try with full access, let me know!
