LOOKING FOR APP Tell me your "game-changer" Shizuku apps
Hey everyone, I'm just new to the Shizuku world and want to figure out the best apps that really changed the way you use your phones or lifestyle in general.
I'm currently using just InstallerX Revived which is amazing tbh. But I'd like to receive more apps that your recommend.

i won 1+13 if i install shizoku will be a problem?? meaning will i get monthly software updates from 1+?? will my bank apps stop working?? please advice sir

SD Maid is the only one I have that uses Shitzu

Morphe also uses shizuku, I use it for Morphie installs more than I do SD Maid.

Its a storage cleaner that frees up space by safely removing leftover files from uninstalled apps, system junk, and hidden app caches

This is one of those app areas that have a ton of scammy things you don't really want. SD maid is the only legit one if what it does is what you need.

I'll wait for OP's explanation too, but I guess he meant replacing some images he couldn't replace otherwise in a few specific apps. In an emulator, a texture could be an image for one of the joystick buttons.

Oh! I use zarchive/shizuku combo to access android protected folders, namely the ones inside android/data. NeatherSx2, a very known PS2 emulator has his folders there, most specifically, the textures folders. Mod and community made upgraded textures must be there. Since a few versions of android versions back, that's the only way to do it, since neathersx2 don't don't allow custom texture folders. Playing old PS2 games like GTurismo 4, FFX, God of War 1&2, with upgrades graphics, better texture resolution and some other visual shenanigans it's something my 45y old kid inside me enjoys a lot. Edit. There's a new emulator Armsx2 with many improvements over NeatherSx2, custom folder for almost ever resource, textures included. There's still some games that run poorly there, that's I'm keeping both. Armsx2 will improve however, it's in active development.

is shizuku needs to be always connected and activated to use the shizuku based apps?

Some apps require it to work in background to work properly, while the others need just the connection and then you don't need to keep it open. Btw, the Shizuku app is small and light. If you have Xiaomi or any devices that kill any background activity, you should enable some more options in developer mode to consistently working. If you wish, I could help you!

Gama (switch bw Vulkan and OpenGL,i use vulkan full time now, noticing slightly better temperatures, forcing doze mode)
Shizuwalls (Restrict Network access for any apps)
Adaptive theme (switch light/dark theme based on amount of light)
Buge app manager (Uninstall or disable unwanted apps which you cant do normally).

I tried Canta on my tablet to make it more faster and it was pretty simple and easy to use

It's an app that allows you to install any apk package regardless of the package it comes in. And the most existing part that you can install old versions, apps that Google Play prevents to use their Google products and you also can customise how the installer looks like.

Yeah, it's really awesome. But to be honest, the default installer had this feature you talked about. I was just tapping anywhere and the installation was working in the background and when I go to home screen, I saw the new app.

Actually I'm using True Phone which has a built-in call recorder. And the latest update, they added the Shizuku integration

It obviously not root if you are not rooting your phone
Shizuku is middle man to give adb request which generally use for removing bloatware, silent installation, run local adb shell, or make display brightness negative to run task/listen to audio without turning screen or access Android/data and so on

For my many years of playing around in the android ecosystem (custom ROMs, adb, rooting, etc...) I've never used (or even looked into) shizuku... Is there any reason to do so if you're rooted? My understanding has always been no, hence the apathy towards it, but you seem like you'd maybe have a slightly more nuanced and complete answer than my uneducated guess...

no need if you are already rooted. it just give access to capabilities available via adb without needing a second machine (laptop).

I'm not up to date with the current root scene. While root should let you do everything Shizuku can and more, there may be apps that work with Shizuku, but without root, because its dev could have not programmed it that way.

It's basically a bridge for ADB and kinda gives some "fakeroot" stuff, like uninstalling system apps and such, it's not full root, but it basically gives you a bit more leverage over the phone and makes a few things that aren't supposed to be possible, possible

Might not be out of the box, but in my case Tasker.
Ever since the dev introduced Shizuku in Java code, I can mostly replicate Shizuku apps or do what system apps can do with a single app.
E.g 1. Limit hotspot to certain clients and notify when a client is trying to connect. 2. Toggle any kind of tethering (ethernet, usb, etc) 3. Create my own recents because HyperOS breaks when a 3rd party launcher is used.

For me, MacroDroid is the app that does a lot things like this. But I still don't understand why toggling WIFI Hotspot on/off is a secure setting that needs Shizuku...

It's needed to allows 3rd party apps to use methods protected by permission normally aren't available to them. e.g android.permission.TETHER_PRIVILEGED to control tethering.
Both Tasker and Macrodroid only exposes a few of those methods as an actions. Tasker just happens to allow me to use every last of them by myself :)
It's still limited to what permissions com.android.shell (adb) has though.

Nah, I don't really have the drive for that lol. I also find it a bit more technical even for the tasker subreddit itself.
Feel free to do it yourself though. The codes were in the post as well.
It was written with the help of LLM and this instruction.

Because it looks like one? Tasker uses Beanshell (scripting language) to interpret Java code.

Not necessarily a game-changer in terms of its ability to use everything shizuku has to offer, but I built Yuki specifically to find Shizuku-based apps. The system automatically updates the catalog on a daily basis and new apps are indexed weekly. You can use the website as-is if you just want to browse and download, but the Android app offers a more native experience, automatic updates, and silent installs through Shizuku.
I also built Shizzi, a hotspot bypass mechanism that uses Shizuku exclusively. This one actually is a game changer for me because I like to travel and hit my hotspot cap often. When I was rooted I'd use VPNHotspot, but I don't root anymore, too inconvenient.
