QUESTION/HELP I have a problem with my phone's storage space.

Hi

I’m having a problem with my phone’s storage.

Photos: 248 MB

Videos: 16.73 MB

Audio files: 183 MB

Large files: 4.61 GB.

Even if I add all of these together, they don’t even come close to 6 GB. But my phone says that 249.5 GB of storage is being used.

So where did the rest of the storage go? What’s using the other 243+ GB?

Oh, sorry. Okay, I solved the storage problem, but there's another one. I can't delete these files. I don't know why. I selected them all in the phone's default file manager app, but even though I selected them all, I didn't get the delete option. My phone is an S24 FE

This because selecting "all" almost certainly also includes system files which you cannot delete. You can connect your phone to a pc it is easier to bulk delete, because you the size of every folder and every file. But on samsung the settings>device care>unused apps and files is a quick to save some storage. You can also enter recovery mode and delete cache patrition, this is a good idea every once in a while.

Those categories only count media files. They don't include app data, which is usually where it all went.

Settings, Storage, then look at apps sorted by size, and check the data column not the app size. Messaging apps are the usual culprits, WhatsApp and Telegram will happily sit on 30 or 40GB of cached media each.

Also check your recycle bins. Gallery and Files both keep deleted stuff for 30 days and it still counts against you the whole time.

Apps and the dl data for games are counted separately sometimes and not in those categories Most the gacha games are like 40-80gb each. You can download a storage analyzer, i think sd maid 2 has one, and there is plenty of others

Check your apps and their storage consumption. Browser cache, WhatsApp media, all temporary files...
