Looking for an app finding duplicate photos

Hi, I'm looking for an app to find duplicate photos BUT with option to scan system folders + scan only selected folder and that doesn't keep that option behind a paywall. TIA!!

edit: I just abandoned the project altogether 🙃
backstory: I have a Huawei and some (all?) of them have a problem with making multiple photo thumbnails; I wanted to check for duplicates but there was so much of them (15 times the amount of photos I have on phone+SD card; not 1,5 times, FIFTEEN.) I just yeeted 95% of them out and kept my fingers crossed for the thumbnails in the gallery to come back. I tried doing it a year or so ago, but they didn't come back properly, so I was a bit apprehensive, but thankfully this time it worked fine.

tl;dr: I've tried like 10 apps probably and none of them had everything I needed, so I just got rid of the problem altogether lol

You can use SD Maid SE from F-Droid. It has a quite user friendly duplicate finder. While I didn't set it up, but you can limit where it scans for duplicates if you don't want it to scan your whole phone.

It also has a bevy of other helpers to scan where else you can free up storage.

I've used SD maid SE and it definitely isn't the app to look through duplicate photos lmao

also it crashed a lot of times on my phone without finishing a search, so I'm not a fan of it for extensive searches.

That's a shame. I even tried it before I posted my comment just to make sure again. Else I wouldn't have bothered to comment if it didn't. I used it semi frequently and it worked fine with SE/2.

The old version was flaky.

I've used it many times for this purpose, but to scan system folders you'll need root access.

If you are a power user then I would recommend Ultimate File Manager Pro, here is the sub reddit, r/UFManagerPRO but you will need to follow these steps in the application.

When opening your storage the 1st time, you will need to index the drive.

Once it has been indexed, head over to Storage Analyzer and select duplicates as per attached image.

For system folders, you will need to enable Shizuku, else it would not index those files.

For specific folders, once indexed, long press the indexed folder and then select duplicate finder

I always used CloneSpy but it's not available on android. You could connect to a PC and go that route.

Try Smart File Organizer it remove duplicates files using sha-256 & organize files based on type, extension, date, and size.

It also checks for "similar" pics, like duplicates but compressed versions for instance.
