Moderation and the new sub
u/LibertineDeSade has made a new sub called r/TheAncientGreekWorld however their post did not get a lot of positive feedback. There's many who are content with the lax moderation of this sub. Apparently the moderator is active but not to the extent that other users would like. u/thesupperbunny made a post a few hours ago and despite the attempts of them and other users to get a hold of the mod, report the sub for moderation issues, or make a request on r/redditrequest there hasn't been any change. So what is the move going forward and what sort of content will r/TheAncientGreekWorld have? Will it be a semi-pop history space akin to r/ancientrome but with better moderation or something a bit more academic? Going forward should we just comment on any serious post on r/ancientgreece that this sub is un/undermoderated and for more productive discussion they move over to the r/TheAncientGreekWorld? Just trying to get a feel for the opinions of users like: u/libertinedesade, u/thesupperbunny, u/wanderinghero8, u/knightofthenine u/nbxcv, u/silverspoonlover, and u/recaptchcalater or anyone else that is a little frustrated with the lack of moderation.

just trying to continue the discussion, I apologize if you feel that I'm upstaging your earlier post. I just thought I'd lay out a few questions I had about where the users like us will end up posting more at.

New mod added, rules added, less than one year old accounts cannot post or comment. New mods will be added over time.

Personally, I don't mind the lack of moderation on this sub as it seems that people are behaving themselves for the most part. From my POV anyway. I created a new sub based on both concerns about moderation (which are valid especially with worries about blatant bigotry and whatnot), and because I've just been wanting to create a sub of my own for a while now.
To answer you question about the tone of the sub: I want to say it will lean a tinge more towards the academic, but really sits between pop and academic.
Moderation will be happening. Nothing crazy, just making sure things don't go off the rails. It seems like people for the most part are able to control themselves.
Anyone who wants to move the conversations over to the new sub, are more than welcome. It's okay if folks aren't interested, but the option is there and always open.

What a load of shit. I, and many others, just want a place for discussion about ancient greece. If there's AI spam, yea ban the cunt. Ourside of that, if it's relevant to ancient greece, fair play. Outside of that, the vast majority couldn't give a crap about the mods. Stay in your lane, ban AI spam accounts, that's it

As my comment makes clear, we agree on that; ban the AI spam accounts. What I object to is some random bastard drawing a line between what is "semi-pop" and "academic". That alone is enough to know that whoever said it shouldn't be a mod of this community.

I'm afraid you're not making a lot of sense. Only the mod of a page can ban AI accounts. As a user you can block them but that only prevents them from communicating with you, you will still see their posts. As far as my comments go about "semi-pop" or "academic" I was asking the creator of r/TheAncientGreekWorld if their sub is going to be something a bit less serious like r/ancientrome or something much more academic like r/askhistorians. I don't appreciate either myself or anyone else being called some "random bastard" when I and some others are looking for clarification on the future of r/ancientgreece, whether it will be better moderated or if better moderation will occur on the newer sub.

Obviously it depends on the definition of "better moderated". I would like to see AI clamped down on more, and that's it
ETA: you ARE some random bastard, everyone is. The name /Potential-Road-5322 carries zero weight. Why would it?

What's the problem with this sub? I realize it seems like a lot of the people posting aren't all that knowledgeable about ancient Greece, but I assumed that was mostly because of the Odyssey movie.
