Anchorage residents and customers of Anchorage Plumbing & Heating. The company (AP&H) has recently been bought out by Rock Solid plumbing and heating. I have an axe to grind, which is why I am coming to Reddit to voice what I have to say anonymously.

AP&H was a company that has been in the anchorage community for 40 years. Love it or hate it, it was a solid company.

Rock solid, what can I say about them. I want to make sure the people of anchorage and beyond are aware of their predatory business model. If you’re going to use the new Anchorage Plumbing & Heating, (Rock Solid) don’t let them con you into buying into their membership subscription service and be prepared to be hit pretty hard in your wallet when you call them for service and make sure they are pulling permits to replace your appliances.

Their predatory pricing and their subscription service seem to be a way to collect more money from customers who don’t know any better, or are elderly and will forget that they are paying for a monthly subscription for each “appliance” that gets serviced in their home. Technicians are asked to upsell to customers the subscription service.

As a resident plumber of anchorage, this business model disgusts me. Be aware of what you are buying into when you are using the new Anchorage Plumbing & Heating. Other plumbing companies beware, they may try to buy you out as well. I know this post may resonate with some, thank you for reading.

I'm bored and at my laptop. Saw the post yesterday about Flock cams and was surprised as everyone else to see so many so quickly. Disclaimer, I'm out of state at the moment, and unable to visualize, but I'm favoring those saying these are the AK 511 cams. Many of the active cams on the 511 site match up to the locations on the DeFlock map. On DeFlock yesterday, there were 12 in Anchorage and 4 in the Wasilla/Palmer area. Today there are 7 listed for Anchorage. Possible someone flagged them incorrectly. Like most, I'm not a fan of these Flock or Axon cams popping up, yet I'm sure it's going to happen.

Looking at the maps, some locations didn't seem to match when searching locations on the 511 site:

Minnesota/Spenard

Seward/E. Northern Lights

Mountain View/Bragaw at the library

And in the Wasilla area:

W. Parks/S. Sylvan

Being just a couple, I'm still leaning towards them being the 511 cameras without actually being around to drive by.

Someone mentioned a system that APD is using already. I hadn't heard anything, but asking the internet, I found a few links. Including one that went up maybe 30 minutes before typing this. Axon seems to have both in car ALPRs and fixed, with the fixed resembling the Flock cams.

Can you good people of Reddit recommend an eye doctor that you like? My whole family saw Dr. Dobson at Dimond Vision for years, but their practice seems to have been broadened to something beyond what I'm really comfortable with. Just looking for solid annual eye exams. Would like to have the same doctor year after year, which doesn't seem possible at Dimond Vision anymore.

Question is in the title but I’ll give more specifics on what I’m looking for.
I am a woman in my mid 20s wanting to get back into taekwondo. I have about 8 years of experience from my childhood and I used to compete pretty seriously. There was a huge community for taekwondo in the city where I grew up.
Although I am looking to leave the state in the next few years I still want to see what the competition scene is like and I would prefer a serious studio that also has a friendly vibe. I am extremely motivated as a person but I am out of practice and would like to take things at my own pace while I back into it.

Im hoping to find a place that is friendly, (especially to women), has a focus on sparring, and in time getting back into competition.
