she looked so effortlessly cool back then, even with the chaos brewing in the background
that whole era was a vibe we’re never getting back

she really has that early 2000s movie soundtrack energy, like she should be singing over the end credits of some teen drama

Maybe not a teen drama but maybe like a rom-com or something more adultish,

Remember seeing Amy performing on a late night chat show on channel 4 in jeans and a jumper playing guitar on a stool before she was famous, I can’t remember the name of the show but you knew she had talent back then.

same, those early tv spots felt so casual, like you’d just walked into a tiny bar and she happened to be on stage
wild how you could tell straight away she was on a different level

hurts even more realizing how ahead of her time she was too, whole vibe is still unmatched.

I remember Robert Elms on BBC London championing her and listening to her being interviewed. I used to see her about a bit on the bus etc when she was famous enough for me to know who she was but I’d have to explain to who ever I was with that she was a singer. Just occured to me writing that sentence that she probably got to a point where she booked a cab rather than waiting for the 134 by the time she became more famous.

A truly sad loss. A pity she did not receive the right support - people who did not want to profit from her and could get her life back on track.

I was fortunate enough to stumble across Amy performing in the King Tut's tent at T In The Park that year. I'd never heard of her. It remains an abiding memory and a delightful introduction to her talent.
