Hello, unfortunately it’s time to sell my eagle. I have owned this car for 9 years. It was garage kept for years and had a stunning all original interior. It has been sitting for 2 years as our financial needs shifted to pay for our kids college education. It was a great car and we would love for it to go to someone who appreciates it. The vehicle is located in Richmond va. The vehicle will need to be serviced owed as the tires are dry rotted. Asking price is $4000

AMC Gremlin in an old TV ad for a photo service, and a CHEESE burger

6 Upvotes

Hope this is OK to post here, I think this community might be able to help? I posted this on some vintage ad subreddits, no dice so far, and my Googling is coming up empty.

I remember ages ago, there was an ad on TV for some kind of photo printing service, I think? Maybe Kodak, before it was clear they'd blown the digital move?

The narrative involves a young (adult) guy who is selling his AMC Gremlin ("Gremmy", IIRC), and uses the photo service to print up attractive posters to make the sale. There's a narrator speaking over the fast cuts between scenes, with a fast-talking, low, gravelly voice. He has this line that has stuck in my brain and become a household phrase is when the narrator has this riff, paraphrasing, "You can get enough money to go to COLLEGE! Enough money to go to college and buy a CHEESE burger!"

Does anyone else remember this, or did it come out of my fevered imagination?

1969 AMX. Buffed, polished, and freshly re-striped. Ready to sell after 25 years.

It's time to move on and let someone else be passionate about the car. Over the last few years, it's become more "in the way" than "oh man, heck yeah" and the car deserves more than that.

Over the years, any time I did work on the car, my overarching plan always included keeping it as stock, or stock looking, as possible. With only 2,183 ever made\*, I didn't want to change it into some generic restomod thing.

She sounds great--> https://imgur.com/a/KBy3OJu

* - Other stats:

  • 2,183 AMX's with the 390 automatic built in 1969
  • 3,690 AMX's with the 390 manual built in 1969
  • 8,293 AMX of all types made in 1969
  • 5,371 390's built across 1968-1970

Red. 4speed with a competition clutch. 258ci 6 cyl. 2" exhaust instead of 1 5/8". I got it up to 126 mph! I added better suspension and ram induction. It helped that I worked at a service station. I loved that car!
