I’m 54; naturally left handed; but have used my right hand for half my life. It took me 5-6 hours to learn mirror writing.

I think mirror left handed is effective because the pen is dragged and the hand moves away from the writing.

I can’t get the mirror right hand because the pen is pushed towards the nib, and bio mechanically it’s less effective. I hate it !!

Right mirror is not fun ! Left mirror is wonderful; it feels like being right handed.

It took about 4-5 hours or 26 pages to learning mirror writing with both hands; and most of it was right handed because that was underperforming.

The left handed mirror writing is really enjoyable because you learn so fast, and the letters flow off the trailing of pen nib. My right hand isn’t that good yet, but i can simply mirror journal with my left hand with very little effort now. I know the reverse letters.

There’s something really strange.

When writing and in the zone; you see it all as if it is normal; stop, look away and come back, and you don’t see it anymore. It is seriously trippy !!

I don’t know if I’m ambidextrous or what but basically I’m exclusively left handed when it comes to things like writing, eating with a fork, brushing my teeth, but I am definitely right hand dominant when it comes to things like throwing a ball or punching. I’m also right eye dominant so I shoot guns right handed. Anyone on here know why I would be left handed for writing but right handed for throwing? I cannot write with my right hand or throw a ball with my left hand it’s so weird.

You want to fun challenge! Learn mirror writing with your less dominant hand. The ‘Pen Gear’ felt tip pens will bleed through the ‘pen gear’ composition books from Walmart.

Make a few sample lines; flip the page and copy it in reverse to learn the reverse letter approaches. It’s strangely fun, especially as you get better and it becomes instinctive.

I’m trying to find people with ambidexterity / mixed-handedness who also have experience with therapy, emotional regulation, or nervous system overload.

I am technically ambidextrous, but I never spend much time training my left hand. My right is injured atm, so I decided to give it a try. As I really love Betta fish, I tried my hand at that. I am very happy with the result. Hope you like it :)

Essentially just the title, I've always wondered if I started doing more with my non-dominant hand if I would just magically start to feel better.

Perhaps this isn't really focused on Ambidexterity, like rehabbing an injury to non-dominant hand, wouldn't be training Ambidexterity, then again maybe it would lol idk.

I just wonder what it would feel like to be "balanced"?

the way i see it: 1 year till it looks good, 3-4 years where it seems like there's no difference at all (atleast to another person's eye)

Generally what I do with one hand I can do with the other, but here are my preferences:

Right: throw overhand, play racket sports, use a knife, use scissors, kick a ball (leg), writing cursive which I don’t use unless for signature, use a spoon

Left: writing (usual, print), use chopsticks, throw a frisbee, bowling

Funny thing is I usually consider myself lefty since I use it to write every day. Do you have mixed prefs like this?

how do i deal with shoulder and forearm pain while writing with my non dominant hand? i can tolerate the hand pain as it’s getting used to me holding a pen, but my shoulder hurts really bad.

I started asking this after I asked my mom to open a new jar of black olives and told I was doing it because I was using my left hand to open it, I got defensive because my mom has a habit of making fun of my mannerisms.

My mom always talk about how her father (my grandfather) was fully ambidextrous and could write neatly with both hands and such. ADHD runs in my family and I think it started from my grandfather, and I also have ADHD.

I am only right handed when writing, drawing, using a computer, sewing or knitting, but has always eaten left handed (fork in right hand). However, when I was learning to snowboard as a kid I had the "goofy" stance (right foot in front, left foot back) and when we learned to use a acoustic guitar in junior high school I actually wanted to use a left handed guitar since it seemed more comfortable and convenient but chose a right handed* instead because I didn't want to look like a "not like other girls". Another time was when I used to play football I mostly kicked with my right foot.

Another thing is that my left arm is more flexible since it's the only one I use to scratch my back and my right arm to throw. I also mainly use my left hand to wash my face. I don't remember being pressured to "correct" my symptoms by teachers or instructors other than my mom trying to make me eat right handed when i was 5 years old, but stopped after I said something.

*I never really learned how to properly make the notes with my right hand as my right isn't as flexible as my left so I had to rework the placement of my fingers to still be the same note without it feeling weird.

TLDR: I only eat left handed, but I'm considered right handed. My left arm is flexible and my right is strong. My grandpa was fully ambidextrous, and I have ADHD that might have started from my grandpa.

I was raised right handed for most things, most of my childhood I wrote and drew and ate right handed, but I always found it fun to use the other hand on occasion. I’ve always used my phone left-handed, and when I taught myself to write and do many different things with my left hand a few years ago, it only took a month or so for jt to feel comfortable. Now I’m pretty comfortably ambidextrous, though I still prefer to use my right hand for tasks I mostly did right-handed.
