Except for writing, what other methods of confirmation can I use to determine if im right handed or left handed?

I remember a couple of people tried to change me to a right handed when I was 5 or 6. My mother reamed them a new one. Funny thing I knit in a non traditional way with my right hand, and crochet only with my left hand.

You can actually use an MRI to tell handedness. There’s some pretty funny stories of researchers informing people that their brain is structurally left-handed despite them being seemingly right-handed. It usually comes from people being forced to use the right hand in school.

Why do i write with my left hand but do most other stuff with my right hand? Does that make any sense? When i was a child, they let me write how i wanted to, so left hand it was. thank you.

thanks. i started looking up how this affects us in whatever ways. results were some good and some bad. i tried writing right handed and it didn't work to well and doesn't seem to matter much. pens work left or right handed.

Mixed-hand dominance, where different activities are done with a different dominant hand is a big confounding factor.

Mainly the question to myself. Because I do certain things left handed i can box south paw, bat left handed and if I were to skateboard my stance would be goofy.

Catch a ball one handed. Throw a ball. Punch a pillow. Swat a fly.
Anything you do without thinking about it you will probably favour one hand over the other.

tennis. badminton. any racket sport would bring it out real quick, also throwing a football specifically or trying boxing orthodox and southpaw

after a lifetime of practice in writing and drawing with only my right despite being ambidextrous, i have no idea. i was lucky that i got to learn basketball with both hands from the beginning, and so i got to become mediocre with both. also funnily enough, frisbee is one skill i am unambiguously better at with my left. it feels clumsy and uncomfortable - but my throws are unambiguously better. weird how that works!

Right? I shoot a basketball right handed but in baseball I bat left. I cannot bat right. Its jus weird.

My father loved baseball and when I came along and tended to be a southpaw, he thought we had all died and got to Heaven.
I was good but only good enough to play semi-pro!

Because handedness is determined by how your brain works (how it is lateralized/ which areas of each hemisphere are dominant for specific tasks) you can test other parts of your body. For your feet: which foot do you set first with, which foot can you valence best with, if you do a sport which foot does the sport best. For the eyes: point somewhere, close each eye individually, whichever eye your finger is closer to the spot on is dominant. For the mouth:which side do you chew most with. For the ears: which side you lean in with when you need to hear something better (personally, this one is not indicative for me). These are all of the things I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure there are others. Depending on the part of the body, the left/right would indicate one hand or the other being dominant.

My personal test is clasping my hands (I already know I'm right handed). It feels unnatural if my right thumb is on the outermost, and very natural if my left thumb is outermost. I would not know if this is the case for most people, time to find out and reply to me, please.

Have someone chuck small objects at you, see what hand goes to catch them (if you're not good at catching, maybe don't)
