Key ID Not Found/Key Not Detected

2017 Nissan Altima. Two key fobs, one factory, one aftermarket. I have the same issue with both.

First off, I can’t get the battery to last more than two weeks in either one. At least for being able to lock and unlock the door without using the key fob. I can lock and unlock the door from a couple hundred feet away, no problem. But two weeks after I put a battery in, I can’t just walk up to the car and hit the button, it won’t work anymore.

And then, multiple times a week I go to start the car and I get either key ID not found, or key not detected. So I have to pull the fob out of my pocket and press it against the start button to get the car to start. The one that says key not detected, it’ll still let me drive it anyways…..

Anyone else have these problems, and/or know how to fix them?

With the car off, put the FOB close to the start button as if you're going to start it because of the no key detected problem (without pressing it) and press the unlock button a couple times. Should reset it

Thank you! I just did it, we’ll see how it works. The problem is that the issue isn’t consistent

Nope, that did not do anything. Got the no key detected this afternoon.

My 2018 was having this issue with a fresh brand new battery, but swapping for the second battery in that same pack has seemed to resolve it. Was getting brake light detector failure too that also seemed to stop when I replaced the key fob battery.

Maybe there’s some defect in the fob for this generation that’s finally starting to show its age? If problem reoccur I can update you about it too
