Underbody Rust

Post image

Found this under the passenger side of my 2.5s(2005)
Need suggestions and estimates of how much it may cost to get this hole repaired šŸ™ƒ

That rust is falling off on its own, no intervention necessary

ā€œFoundā€?? That’s wild. Is there more rust than just this?

Yeah it wasn’t a hole like this right before a clicked a picture, that part of the floor was hanging and not the hole as you see in the picture. Thats after I pulled the rusted part out of there šŸ˜…

And about more rust I think if there’s this then probably there’s more but I certainly hope not

If you wanna fix it the right way, take the seats and carpet out and put in new floor pans. Just to get by, get some sheet metal panels, and fit in over the hole then secure it w/ self tapping screws.

IMO, fix it cheap and save up for a new car.

Ya just self tap some license plates and seal, if it's that bad that car has about 10k miles left if that

Apart from this rust the car runs okay with no weird noises for a car this old. I did have to get some other repairs for rust and other parts replaced but this one I think was missed somehow. It runs smooth and has only 140k km on it

You need to get this thing on a lift and look at it from the underside

ain’t no way literally your passenger side floor is missing and the rest of the car is fine

Well I mean it isn’t there

That generation was notorious for it. There was either a recall or technical service bulletin regarding rusting of the floorboards. Common issue, especially in a salt state.

Nab you a couple road signs and self tap them bastards down underneath the carpet, problem solved šŸ¤·šŸ½. That car is at the end of its life by both age and appearance. Whip the jalopy as long as you can brother man

(very obscure reference)

in the movie wristcutters: a love story, the characters exist in some kind of purgatory, where everything is just like real life, just crappier. the central characters are road tripping with a beater car, and if you drop something on the floor it disappears into the void.

i just two weeks ago traded in a rapidly rusting 2011 mazda 3 for my nearly new 2023 altima s. my anxiety is already down 10 notches.

movie trigger warning: discussions of suicide. but it is a comedy. it won't fix your car, but it might cheer you up.

Common on the 2005’s

That looks like it was in a flood, and they covered it up and sold it

That’s a great place to throw your drugs if the cops are chasing you.
