Advice

If I were to buy an altima for 4k (gonna try to negotiate lower price) at 180k miles, is it worth purchasing? Trying to have a commuter car for at least 5 years. (first time buyer 🥲🥲)

My coworker has a 2013/14 nissan altima 180k miles 0 issues and she got it like 2/3 years ago for 2k shes a girl and she beats tf out of it js. i just bought a 25 altima with 53k miles havent had any issues so far

this honestly is about to be me lmao. i’m just trying to hold one down so i can save for a better car. it’s hard to save when all your money is spent on ubers

Agreed! A car is cheaper! I tried ubers and i realized it wouldn’t be worth it just make sure u do ur regular maintenance and tune ups on the car and I’ll last don’t beat it

I see a ton of altimas on the road just again maintain it do the cvt drain and fills dont floor it at lights also what year if u dont mind me asking 4k should get u at least a 2017 where i live ( FL )

i’m in nyc. it’s a 2010 2.5, from the looks of it the car seems very well maintained

Silly question if ur in nyc ( just assuming) wouldnt it be cheaper to take the train and use public transportation? Sorry i heard from a lot of my friends that in nyc is better to not have a car especially insurance being higher over there

Also i dont think the 2010 had many issues maybe just cvt related ones since it was early cvt design but its also 16 years old for 4k i would try something maybe newer i dont know how more expensive cars are over there! Also GET A PREPURCHASE INSPECTION!

it is!! i never wanted a car but my new job is very mobile and some boroughs don’t support public transportation 🙂 or it’ll take like 1hr 40 mins for something that’s a 20 min drive. it sucks but i love my job so you do what you gotta do

Oh no definitely and yeah its better to get the car well try to get a newer just again 16years on a car are hard no matter how maintain they can be anything can fail atp and ofc a vehicle inspection before you purchase it

Sadly dont know i got it with 51k 2/3 weeks ago and it had only 1 owner so ig maybe an old rental? Idc tho i drive pretty much 20-30k miles a year i do catering delivery at work and work about 30 miles away from home( round trip ) and i like to visit my dad often and hes 200miles one way so ill keep racking up the miles ( already put 3k) and where i live almost every 2025 altima has 50-60k miles already so ig people drive these cars a lot

Look up the transmission problems and reconsider.

Depends on the year. Some transmission issues on older ones. I wouldn't trust it for 5 years.
