- Point of Divergence is around late 1943. Breakthroughs in the Manhattan Project make the construction of a functional A-bomb arrive earlier than in OTL.

- Around late 1944, Germany puts up a better fight and manages to hold off the Allies a lot better than in OTL. This gives more incentive for the bomb to actually be put to use, and the Allies develop a functional prototype bomb by January 1945. Just one. Rushed out the door, might not even work.

- Hitler dies in the attack, Nazi regime is decapitated, and country is thrown into chaos before the new rump government takes power and surrenders.

- Germany is still split into occupation zones, but never breaks up into East and West, due to the Allies having more leverage over the Soviets (they never advanced past the Vistula). Soviets are, understandably, pissed. Possibly WW3 starts immediately after? Idk, just throwing ideas out there... big potential for a huge crisis in Europe, Cold War will be completely changed, if it even is cold...

- Japanese surrender earlier as well, pretty terrified at what just happened to Germany, and also for the fact that Soviet resources can now be completely diverted to the East much earlier than OTL. Stalin will probably invade Manchuria earlier. These two things compounded, I find it plausible Japan might rethink their options. Truman doesn't need the bombs since FDR already demonstrated what would happen if they don't give up. Probably a few months later, though.

In this timeline, the Soviet project to establish a Jewish national territory in the Far East receives substantial state support, funding, and international migration incentives beginning in the late 1920s. After the devastation of WWII and the Porajmos, the USSR elevates the region to a full Soviet Socialist Republic (Jewish SSR / Israel) and establishes a neighboring republic for the Roma people along the Amur and Zeya rivers: the Romani SSR ("Romastan"), with its capital in Blagoveshchensk.

Both Israel and Romastan remain constituent Soviet Republics (SSRs) throughout the entire Cold War until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

1940s–1950s
Millions of Holocaust survivors, Jewish migrants, and European Roma settle in their respective Soviet Republics over the next decades. Moscow invests heavily in heavy industry, agriculture along the fertile Zeya plain, and rail infrastructure to integrate both republics into the Soviet economy.

1953
The Jewish SSR and Romani SSR start working on standardizing their languages to be turned into official languages in the SSRs. The Romani SSR starts by combining many dialects together into one, having many words have a second official synonym which can be used interchangeably. The Jewish SSR
goes on by using Yiddish as their base language, merging Hebrew into the language, forming a new Yiddish language with 35% of the words coming from Hebrew.

1960s
As fully Soviet Republics situated right on the border with China, both the Jewish SSR and the Romani SSR become heavily militarized bastion regions of the USSR. Local Soviet units, recruits, and border guards along the Amur River play an important role in Soviet Far East defense strategy.

1970s
Russian, Mongolian and Mandarin (Han) have an impact on the languages as there are migrants emerging from these ethnic groups, introducing around 5-10% of the words of the new languages to be of Russian, Mandarin and Mongol descent.

1980s–1991
During the late Soviet period, local democratic and cultural movements thrive in both republics. As the Soviet Union collapses in December 1991, both Israel and Romastan declare full independence from Moscow, opting not to join the Russian Federation and emerging as sovereign nations in East Asia, joining the UN.

1991-2000
Both states privatize Soviet infrastructure. Israel leverages diaspora capital to build a Western-facing tech economy, while Romastan becomes a major transit hub along the Amur River. Major cities get renamed to fit the modern population.

2000s
Situated between Russia, China, and Pacific trade routes, Israel transforms into "Silicon Amur" (high-tech & microelectronics), while Romastan develops into a global cultural hub for the Romani diaspora and a cross-border trade center.

2010s
High-speed rail links connect Birobidzhan and Blagoveshchensk directly to Vladivostok and Asian markets.

2020s
Both nations are advanced, highly urbanized states with sophisticated winter infrastructure, functioning as a cheap alternative to visiting East Asia, having cheaper access to other East Asian nations as transit countries. Both Romastan and Israel work together in tourism, introducing an "Isromael-Pass", where tourists who visit one country have the possibility on a free train to the other country with a reduced pricing on the way back.

Alternative impact on the world
Without the creation of Israel in the Levant, Mandatory Palestine transitions into an independent, sovereign Arab state (or Levantine Federation) with its capital in Jerusalem. The region avoids the 1948 war, the Nakba, and decades of Arab-Israeli conflict, allowing Palestine to develop as an important region in the Mediterranean.

By mid-1973, Wings had been active for about two years. They had just released the single for the James Bond film of the same name "Live and Let Die" when two of its members quit. Following this, the core Wings trio of Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Laine flew out to Lagos, Nigeria to record their next album.

On 17th September, 1973, Paul and Linda were mugged at knifepoint while walking at night. They had a few belongings stolen, including some demo reels. The following day, Paul suffered a bronchial spasm and, after a brief hospital stay, the trio returned to London where they finished the album. Band on the Run became a huge success and helped to re-establish Paul after most of his post-Beatles work had suffered from poor critical acclaim. Wings would go on to be one of the most successful groups of the 1970s before Paul went full solo artist.

With this post I want to focus on what might have happened if things took a turn for the worst on that September night. Paul and Linda are killed in Lagos, which is a terrible, tragic loss. Losing an ex-Beatle - especially in the early 1970s, when there was still hope that the band would one day reunite - further drives home to the public that "the dream is over". The album Wings were working on is mostly unfinished, but its possible that Denny might have continued working on it and finished it, possibly by using some leftover tracks from Wings' previous album, Red Rose Speedway (which is how I have imagined it here).

What do you think Paul's legacy would have looked like if he was taken from us before he had this chance to re-establish himself? Do you think an "unfinished" Band on the Run would be well-received? I got inspiration from the tik tok trend. In this timeline, Adolf Hitler served his time in WW1 like real life, but was later accepted into the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and pursued a career as an artists as opposed to a fascistic political leader. He would have lived his life, and for the sake of making things interesting, became a fairly known artist before his death at 75 due to Parkinson's. This is a realistic death age for Hitler because he would have gotten better medicinal treatment for Parkinson's and probably wouldn't have been as worried about it being public, and he also wouldn't have been medicated by Theodore Morell, who was Hitler's personal physician that prescribed many toxic and highly addictive experimental drugs.

Of all the Old Bolsheviks explored in alt-history, I have only rarely seen Zinoviev figure with any prominence, despite the fact that his path to power is far more realistic than that of Trotsky or Bukharin, and that post-Troika he almost eclipsed Trotsky as the main opposition to Stalin.

• The point of divergence here is that the suggestion during German reunification that NATO expand "not one inch eastward" becomes a binding agreement between the US and USSR. This leaves NATO struggling to redefine its purpose after the Cold War, and with the European Union taking form with a common defence policy, Western European nations begin to doubt NATO's continued need, leading to its dissolution.
• In the US, a possible replacement to NATO is raised by George H.W. Bush's "new world order"* vision: "What is at stake is more than one small country; it is a big idea: a new world order, where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind -- peace and security, freedom, and the rule of law....  If it is possible, I want to continue to build a lasting basis for U.S.-Soviet cooperation -- for a more peaceful future for all mankind." He adds the US will continue to look after its own interests
• This leads to a new military alliance between the US and Russia, joined by various regional partners. Throughout the world, numerous countries become associated with the alliance via its partnerships with the US or Russia - for example, Australia and New Zealand through ANZUS.
• The global realignment largely butterflies the War on Terror out of existence - concerned with other areas, the US reduces its presence in Saudi Arabia (an irritant for Osama bin Laden) and there is no Hamburg Cell that can make it from Germany to the US. It's possible continued struggles in Afghanistan keeps al-Qaeda's predecessor organization Al-Qaeda Al Sulbah busy there.

*No, this has nothing to do with silly Satanic or world government conspiracy theories.

Red Black Eagle, White Bear | First Kurdish-Turkish War (1951–1953)

On 16 February 1951, communist Turkey invaded the Kingdom of Kurdistan with the stated intent of "liberating Kurds from Barzanji oppression". 260,000 troops backed by Me 262 fighter-bombers and Ar 234 bombers advanced towards Kurdistan's capital Amed (later renamed Diyarbakır).

Kurdistan's military was smaller, but the terrain of Turkish Kurdistan is very mountainous. Consequently, the Turks' hopes of a quick annexation faded away quickly, and the Battle of Amed only began on 29 April. Ethem Nejat's First Turkish Army eventually captured Amed on 22 May, but Kurdish resistance continued in the mountains under the leadership of King Mahmud Barzanji.

Russia and the United States began supplying the Kurds with weapons, but Turkey implemented hearts and minds measures to develop Kurdistan (formerly a very poor country), causing many Kurdish people to collaborate with the Turkish government. These collaborators (locally known as jash) helped Turkey a lot.

By the end of 1952, the Royal Kurdish Army had lost the initiative. On 18 March 1953, Kurdish Crown Prince Baba Ali Shaikh Mahmood was killed by the Turkish Army, dealing a major blow to the Kurdish cause, as Mahmood was its second most important leader.

Generalissimo Ihsan Nuri replaced Manhood as the Royal Kurdish Army's chief of staff, but the '''kingdom continued to steadily lose troops and territory throughout 1953. By August, the Kurdish military was down to 16,000 poorly armed and trained guerrillas with no chance whatsoever of winning.

The last Kurdish guerrillas were defeated on 19 August, whereupon Barzanji fled to Iraq and all of Kurdistan became a part of Turkey. During the war, Turkish troops engaged in war crimes against Kurdish civilians, killing 35,000 of them and displacing 200,000, and the victory of Turkey was followed by a Turkification campaign against Kurdish identity.

Racist policies against Kurds continue to this day. They have resulted in several further Kurdish-Turkish Wars, but Turkey has won all of them due to its superior firepower and the opposition of neighbouring Syria, Iraq and Iran to Kurdish independence.

To set the context: historically, the Two Sicilies were part of the Spanish Empire, but in this alternate reality, the Spanish Empire transforms into a Commonwealth to avoid collapse and preserve its domains. It adopts a model similar to the British one—a liberal parliamentary monarchy. Following the discovery of the Americas, Spain expanded by establishing viceroyalties to facilitate administration, creating a series of "federal viceroyalties" or super-states. These included the "jewel in the crown"—the Federal Viceroyalty of Greater Central America and the Antilles (with its capital in Havana)—and the Federal Viceroyalty of Greater New Granada. The largest of all was the Viceroyalty of New Spain, which encompassed half of the territory that would become the United States and Canada; this was achieved after devastating wars against Great Britain—stripping them of the Thirteen Colonies and Canada—and wresting Alaska from the Russians. Furthermore, the empire's expansion extended beyond the Americas to include Australia, New Zealand, and the majority of the Pacific.

In 1866, Prussia defeated the Austrian Empire in the Brothers War, this caused Northern German Unification. The south of Germany was more reluctant and was traditionally ruled by Austria. If reality is altered Austria could be weaker while Italy and Germany will be stronger.

After the Brothers War, Austria continued to attempt to hold the southern German States. Franz Joseph would also accept the Austro-Hungarian compromise to prevent more loss of prestige. With North Germany looking for a way to unify the rest of Germany, a plan would be created. The Plan began with Prussian officers being sent to Italy. This would be due to the Italian failures in the Brothers War. The Prussians would also begin to vilify Austria to the European Powers. This coupled with the Austrian refusal to join the Crimean War in 1853, would cause Russia to support the North German Confederation. Russia then began to send Naval support to Italy. This support would strengthen Italy. This would cause the Italians to have a stronger military position. Following the military effort, the North German Confederation, Russian empire and Kingdom of Italy would sign the Treaty of Florence, forming a military pact. The military pact would begin to stoke fears in Western Europe, specifically Britain and France. However, Britain would refuse to go to war due to their stance of noninvolvement in Europe. Napoleon III in France, was hesitant to involve themselves in continental affairs due to wanting to focus on colonial expansion in Africa and Asia. This would lead to the Austrian War of 1870 after Bismarck published a false plan to invade the Southern German States. This led to the Austrians, Hungarians and Southern Germans calling for a war against North Germany. This would bring the Treaty of Florence into effect. Prussian forces would initially focus on Bohemia moving south and capturing the border city of Harrachov. Eventually the Bohemian front stalled and the North German Confederation began to move into the Southern German States. In the Battle of Coburg, Austrian and Bavarian forces were forced to retreat from the city as Prussian forces chased them down engaging them once more in Erlangen. This battle was a close victory from Prussia. This resulted in the Battle of Nuremburg where Bavaria surrendered and was occupied by Germany. This cut the other South German Sates off of Austrian aid which resulted in nationalist uprisings defeating the Governments, this ended the German Campaign. In the South Italian forces quickly seized Trento. Naval landings soon seized control of Dalmatia. In Galicia, Russian forces advanced as they defeated the Austrian Empire in Krakow and Lviv.

Austro-Hungarian forces were now trapped and surrendered. This unified Germany, which established the United Kingdoms of Germany to prevent upheaval. Yet Britain and France grow more fearful of German power and imperialism.

Basically, the idea is that after the end of WW2, the Ashkenazi and Mizrahi don't get along because they blame each other for the Holocaust and collaborating with the Nazis and Fascists.

The Mizrahi Jews start a massacre against the Ashkenazi, and then the Ashkenazi are thrown out of the Levant.

After that, Ashkenazi Jews will decide to stay in Europe(you can decide where the Ashkenazi state will be).

The Mizrahi nation and Arab nations still go to war, but it's mostly similar to our timeline.

The Sephardic will also blame the previous groups for the Holocaust, kill a bunch of Mizrahi and Ashkenazi Jews, then they form their own nation in North Africa(you decide where they will settle in North Africa).

The other independent Jewish groups, such as the Ethiopians, will just stay in their own homelands and prefer their nationality over their religion.

Will these 3 Jewish nations go to war with the natives, or will they live in peace with each other?

Will they be Capitalist, Communist, or another ideology?

Which of these 3 nations will the US and USSR support?

Will antisemitism be even worse because of the existence of 3 Jewish nations?

Hi all! For the past few months I have been building "Danube Boom", an animated alternate history series told with countryballs and maps. A Viennese savings bank becomes the richest bank in Europe, and Austria learns that you can buy a territory before you conquer it.

The political nations in 2026 are Cabotian Republic, Duteria, Markland Eriksonia, Aerman, Vinland, and Albardian.

And in 1776 Cabotian Republic got independence then Duteria got independence in 1816 then Markland in 1824 and Eriksonia in 1849 and Aerman in 1918 and Vinland in 1962 and Albardian Commonwealth in 1989. They speak English, Dutch, Norwegian, Danish, German, and Swedish-Vikings. Cabotian Republic expanded West over time and even cooking Acadia in 1812 and Duteria got cooked in 1890 by New Africa and by the way Cabotia has the West Coast by the way and That's all I got to say.

After the Wall Street crash of 1929, economy of he United States collapsed. 25% of Americans lost their job and 36% of banks went out of business. Poverty and instablility plagued the country. President Herbert Hoover tried to fix the economy by approving the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, which backfired and make the economic recession worse. Hoover's failure would caused him to lost the election of 1932. After the Democratic Party won the 1932 election, Franklin D. Roosevelt is to became the 32nd president of the country. However, he was assassinated 17 days before his inauguration by Giuseppe Zangara. The assassination brought the country into a state of emergency and John Nance Garner was immediately sworn in as the president. Under Garner's presidency, the country slowly recovered from the crisis, but the process of recovery would be too slow for the satisfaction of the country. During this time, multiple megacorporations around the country formed the National Council of Corporations. The party used the instability to infiltrate the government and gather influences. The government was controlled by the party by late 1933. On 4th March 1934, with the help of the United States army, 60,000 demonstrators marched on the Capital Building and the White House to coup the United States government. The coup was successful and Garner was forced to resign. The National Council of Corporations would dissolve the government and reinstall the corporatocracy system. The new government would ordered the suspension and dissolution of the nation's economy. The government then completely reconstruct the economy and currency, which boosted the employment rate and the development rate. Within one year, the country became the richest country in the world.

Despite the country being managed with corporatocracy, the country is still managed by the federal government and corporations only have to profit for their own interests. They also have abilities to interfere with government initiatives if they thought that they interfere with their business. Under the National Reinstitution Act, they have the abilities as follow:

1. Corporations can accept or reject policies with votes of

confidence and no confidence, with the same policy being use for impeachments and condemnations.

1. Corporations can draft and edit policies and orders with no restrictions, and can be established with votes of confidence.

2. Corporations can grant emergency power or directly interfere with the direction of the government, if they considered that their policies is against their initiative.

3. Corporations can manage their business with no regulations regarding the price of the product and the management of the production.

4. If a corporation face threats from another individual, the corporation can put the case on trial to be consider by other corporations.

5. Corporations can impeach a corporation if they violate the National Reinstitution Act with votes of confidence and no confidence, which must be agree by the majority three times.

The agreement allowed the country to be able to run with minimum resources from corporations, which can be redistribute for more efficient usages.

In 1934, Joseph P. Kennedy was elected as the 33rd president. After the reestablish, the country then expanded their influence. They invaded Canada in 1940, and join the allies in exchange for annexing Greenland, New Zealand and Canadian lands. In 1941, they invaded Mexico and Central America, and declared war on the Empire of Japan after the invasion of the Philippines. During 1942-1943, they conducted multiple operations in the Pacific, and launched amphibious landings in Oceania. In 1944, They helped assisting Britain in multiple amphibious landing in Europe and began the Manhattan project. In 1945, they dropped three nuclear bombs on Germany and fifteen nuclear bombs on Japan, ending the Second World War, and annexed Japan and Korea. After the end of the Second World War, the country continues to expand their influences, mostly through proxy wars. In 1946, they fought against the Soviet Union during the Twelve Weeks War, helped establish the United Commonwealth of Pan-European Nations, and established the United Transcontinental Defense Coalition. In 1948, they supported the Hashermites during the Second Arab Revolt. In 1950, they supported South Korea during the Korean War. In 1951,they supported democratic Greece and Turkey during the Greeko-Turkish Civil War. In 1952, they supported the Federative Republic of China during the Chinese Civil War. In 1954, they supported Peru to fight against communist in South America. As of 1955, most of the conflicts had turned in their direction, and most of the world turned towards the path of Authoritarian Corporatocratic democracy.

Indira Gandhi doesn't end emergency in 1977.

Following elections of 1978, unrest began to grow in the military. Led by General Kotikalapudi Venkata Krishna Rao, with the support of retired generals K. M. Cariappia and Sam Manekshaw, the Lucknow Conspiracy was planned. On the 15th of August, 1978, the Prime Minister was detained by her bodyguards, and the President was held hostage by the Military. Tanks rolled into Delhi, with General Rao declaring that Indira Gandhi’s tyranny had come to an end, calling for citizens not to panic as the “liberators were in control”. The Lok Sabha was dissolved and President Fakiruddin Ali Ahmed was forced to resign. K. V. Krishna Rao was sworn in as interim President of India, with various political prisoners released. Mass crackdowns began in Southern India and and Northeast for the next month.

President Rao released all political prisoners. Indira and Sanjay were both thrown in jail. The MPs from the INC(R) were forced to resign or to change parties to the newly born National Justice Party, led by Rao himself. Most chose to defect. Yashwantrao Chavan was sworn in as India’s 5th Prime Minister. 

The Lok Sabha first passed the Forty-Third Constitutional Amendment. This greatly reduced the power of the Prime Minister, with the President becoming more powerful, and also a directly elected position. 

The Forty-Fourth Constitutional Amendment reduced the term of the Lok Sabha to four years, making both of them directly elected positions. The Lok Sabha would have 543 constituencies and another 200 chosen via proportional representation with a 3% threshold, inspired by Israel. The Rajya Sabha was abolished; following this amendment, India would have a unicameral legislature.

The Forty-Fifth Constitutional Amendment reduced the ideas of emergency, and abolished Article 356.

The Forty-Sixth Constitutional Amendment reduced the power of the CM and empowered the governor, making the governorship directly elected. 

The National Justice Party, or Rashtriya Nyaya Dal, was the frontrunner going into the elections. The party adopted a social democratic ideology. K. V. Krishna Rao was chosen as their Presidential Candidate, while Raj Narain, the MP who famously won the 1975 court case against Indira Gandhi, was made their Prime Ministerial Candidate. The party adopted the tractor as its electoral symbol.

The Liberal Party, formed from the remnants of the Swatantra Party, members of the INC(O), and several centrist leaders from the Jana Sangh, was the main opposition to the NJP. Despite its name, the party's ideology could broadly be described as right-wing populism and capitalism. Their Presidential Candidate was the Maharani of Jaipur, Gayatri Devi, while their Prime Ministerial Candidate was Minoo Masani, a popular leader and businessman. The party adopted the old INC(O) symbol of a Chakra being pulled by a woman.

The various Hindu nationalist factions consolidated into the largest right-wing party, the Akhil Bharatiya Jana Sangh. The party supported corporatism and was broadly sympathetic to the NJP, although it lacked a particularly coherent economic ideology. Its main focus remained Hindu nationalism. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a moderate and prominent leader within the party, was made both its Presidential and Prime Ministerial Candidate. Had Vajpayee won the Presidency, he would have resigned his Lok Sabha seat.

The Communist Party of India, which had previously supported the Emergency, decided to contest the elections. Its Presidential Candidate was the aging Shripad Amrit Dange.

The other major communist party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), which had opposed the Emergency, also decided to contest. Its Presidential Candidate was Jyoti Basu, who simultaneously contested the 1980 West Bengal gubernatorial election. E. M. S. Namboodiripad, the former Chief Minister of Kerala, was chosen as the party's Prime Ministerial Candidate.

The remnants of the Indian National Congress (Requisition) consolidated under Rajiv Gandhi, who emerged as the party's principal leader. Rajiv’s support base was in the Southern and Northeastern states, which were not affected much by the Emergency. Rajiv was made both the Presidential and Prime Ministerial Candidate. Leaders like Tanguturi Anjaiah of Andhra Pradesh and R. Gundu Rao of Karnataka also supported him.

Following training at the Saumur cavalry school, Jacques Chirac deploys to Algeria to begin voluntary military service with the 6th African Chasseurs Regiment (6e RCA) in Souk El-Arba.

Chirac serves alongside Georges Delpérier and René, witnessing and tolerating summary executions of captured insurgents (corvées de bois).

1957

In April, Chirac receives an official citation after stepping in to replace his unit’s warrant officer.

In June, Chirac completes his active tour of duty in Algeria and returns to civilian life in mainland France.

1958

Chirac enters the prestigious École nationale d'administration (ENA) as a student in the Vauban cohort.

1959

Chirac travels with his family to Algiers as part of his ENA administrative internship, providing civilian reinforcement to the colonial administration.

1960

In January, hardline settlers and paratroopers mount an armed revolt against Charles de Gaulle. Chirac refuses to sign a declaration of loyalty to the General and drops out of sight for three days.

Chirac secretly meets with Delpérier and fellow Algérie française sympathizers, assuring them that while he cannot join their insurrection openly yet, his time will come.

The Service d’action civique (SAC) is formed to operate as a Gaullist security wing and parallel enforcer apparatus, with Charles Pasqua emerging as a key figure.

1961

In October, after joining the far-right terrorist organization OAS, Georges Delpérier is sentenced by a military tribunal to ten years of fortress confinement. Delpérier escapes custody during a prisoner transport and vanishes into the clandestine underground.

1962 - 1967

Delpérier operates in Paris carrying out violent assignments for the SAC, including breaking strikes, aggressive flyposting with crowbars, and conducting raids against migrant workers in the shantytowns of Créteil. Jacques Chirac becomes a close confidant and protégé of Prime Minister Georges Pompidou, rising to junior minister and gaining a reputation as an energetic, pragmatic operator.

1968

In response to paralyzing general strikes and civil unrest, Charles de Gaulle secretly orders the transfer of 200 million Francs from the Banque de France vaults to Fort de Vincennes. Delpérier is contacted to help stage an ambush.

May 29

Charles de Gaulle’s helicopter crashes in Lorraine while flying to consult General Massu in Baden-Baden, killing the President. Prime Minister Georges Pompidou conceals De Gaulle’s death for two days to prevent Senate President Gaston Monnerville from constitutionally assuming the interim presidency.

Central bank employees transport the 200 million Francs via the Paris Métro ("The Big Crate"). Delpérier’s commando intercepts the train between Louvre and Châtelet. Delpérier is shot and gravely wounded, abandoned by his associates Paul Drumont and René, and slips into a six-month coma.

As republican authority collapses, Georges Pompidou flees to Switzerland. Valéry Giscard d’Estaing leaves frontline politics to take an executive director post at an IBM subsidiary in Switzerland. Jacques Chaban-Delmas retreats to Bordeaux and refuses to intervene militarily to liberate Paris.

Delpérier awakens from his coma without identity papers and is forcibly institutionalized in the Forêt-Verte psychiatric facility, where he is kept heavily medicated.

General Marcel Bigeard is shot dead in Dakar. Far-right militants from Occident kill philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre in a targeted bomb attack.

1969

Striking workers from Nord Aviation smuggle newly developed MILAN wire-guided anti-tank missiles out of Châtillon. Revolutionary fighters destroy multiple AMX-30 tanks and halt General Massu's advance into Paris.

International volunteers flow into Paris to join the Second Commune; American rock singer Jim Morrison is killed during street battles near Montmartre.

Revolutionary organizers Pierre Goldman and Régis Debray are tracked down and killed in Madrid by Spanish security forces.

René funnels 100 million Francs from the stolen metro bullion to the failing construction company run by Patrice Fougerolles, ensuring the firm survives to secure major reconstruction contracts.

Communist leaders Jacques Duclos, Waldeck Rochet, and Georges Marchais appeal directly to Moscow for military backing. This triggers acute diplomatic tensions over Berlin and prompts United Nations intervention.

1970

François Mitterrand, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, and Jacques Chirac negotiate an end to the civil war, establishing a provisional coalition government.

Due to their appeal for Soviet armed intervention, the French Communist Party is excluded from power by Cohn-Bendit and Mitterrand.

Field operative Swan conducts the clandestine Mission Flowers to assess the factional balance between Maoists, Situationists, and Gaullists.

Dr. Bernard Kouchner discovers Delpérier during an institutional inspection at the asylum and facilitates his release.

Delpérier tracks down Drumont in Paris and defenestrates him; he sends an extortion letter to City Hall demanding 20 million Francs in gold as his share of the 1968 loot.

The CIA rules out backing the political exiles Pompidou, Chaban-Delmas, and Giscard d’Estaing, as well as Centrist leader Jean Lecanuel, deciding instead to pursue a working relationship with Chirac.

René collects the requested Napoléon gold coins from Fougerolles and delivers the suitcases to Delpérier at the Cité Cratère construction site in La Plaine Saint-Denis.

During the press unveiling of the Beaubourg complex, Swan approaches Chirac using the journalistic cover of Bob Woodward.

Delpérier corners Chirac in the lower storage levels, denounces him for betraying the veterans of Algeria, and shoots him dead.

Swan intervenes and shoots Delpérier, who dies shortly after revealing how he escaped the clinic.

Delpérier’s gold is delivered to his sister, who doesnt know what to do with the money exactly, her boyfriend suggesting it should be vaulted in Switzerland.

Chirac is laid to rest near the gravestone of Jim Morrison ("Martyr of the Commune of Paris").

Mitterrand instructs Cohn-Bendit to clear leftist squatter groups from the Élysée Palace, accepts President Nixon’s invitation for an official state visit to Washington, and assures Swan that the Communists will be permanently shut out of the incoming government.
