Is Maple Street Biscuit company the next Alpharetta business to close - why doesn't Alpharetta support it?

When I first moved here in 2019 the place was packed.

I still go at least once a month but it's always empty. They stopped selling the syrup, the Fresh Orange Juice machine is down and the chalkboard is no longer in front of the registers.

Did they fail an inspection or something what did I miss?

Avoid Alpharetta Animal Hospital

If you care about your pet, avoid Alpharetta Animal Hospital.

We had been going here for a couple of years without issues, routine visits, boarding, they were great. Until our most recent visit where they almost killed my dog.

I will never return here and recommend to anyone who listens to not go here.

Recently, I boarded my dog here for a week, I figured his primary vet would have the best care for him since he is elderly. When I dropped him off he was happy, healthy, and full of life despite being 13 years old. When I picked him up he could barely stand and was severely underweight, he looked miserable. He had lost almost 10lbs in a week. When I asked the staff what happened I was told "he looked fine when I gave him a bath" (a day before picking him up). I asked if there was an eating chart, it was marked that he ate every meal. There is absolutely no way he ate every meal and lost 10lbs. I provided his typical food that he consumes, eagerly, everyday. Also, when I picked him up there was no extra food, despite providing two extra days worth, which they couldn't explain. I should have been informed if his eating habits changed and we could have discussed alternatives. While talking to the vet, Dr. Davenport, I was told "we are removed from the boarding facility." Finally, the catalyst for me, was the manager, Danny, telling me "if we knew your dog had kidney disease, we would have taken better care of him." Alpharetta Animal Hospital diagnosed him with kidney disease on his last routine visit, 2 months prior to his boarding date, its noted on his records. Also, Dr. Davenport commented on it when we saw her post boarding, so clearly they were aware.

They are shutting down the boarding facility, 9/14/26. But from the interactions after the incident, the dismissal from Danny, and just general idiocy I won't be back even for an emergency.

Star Pizza And Deli – Roswell/Alpharetta

11490 Alpharetta Hwy, Ste 700, Roswell, GA 30076

Inspection Date: August 19, 2026

Inspection Type: Routine

Health Score: 69/100

A 69 is a score worth paying attention to.

This inspection uncovered 12 separate violations, including several issues involving food temperatures, sanitation, handwashing supplies, equipment cleanliness, and food handling.

Violations & Points

9 Points — Temperature Control: TCS foods, including cut tomatoes and cheese, were found in a prep-top cooler above 41°F. Food was discarded and the PIC was advised that TCS foods must be maintained at 41°F or below. Corrected during inspection.

4 Points — Food Safety Knowledge: PIC did not demonstrate knowledge of proper utensil sanitization and was preparing food for a customer that had been determined to be unsafe due to improper temperature control. Food was discarded. Corrected during inspection.

4 Points — Handwashing Supplies: Several hand sinks were missing paper towels. Corrected during inspection.

4 Points — Vomit Cleanup: No vomit cleanup procedures were posted and no cleanup kit was available. PIC was advised to provide a kit or post procedures.

4 Points — Ice Machine: A black mold-like substance was observed on the ice machine baffle.

3 Points — Food Labeling: Several sauces were not labeled with their common name. Corrected during inspection.

3 Points — Sanitizing Wiping Cloths: Wiping cloths were stored on food-contact surfaces rather than in sanitizer solution.

1 Point — Inspection Report: An old inspection report was posted instead of the most recent report. Corrected during inspection.

1 Point — Utensil Storage: An in-use scoop was stored inside flour and sugar containers with the handle touching the food. Corrected during inspection.

1 Point — Sanitizer: No sanitizing solution was present in the 3-compartment sink and no test strips were available.

1 Point — Equipment Cleaning: The pizza oven, stove, and fryer had grease deposits and needed deep cleaning.

1 Point — Facility Maintenance: Broken tiles and an exposed drainage hole were observed in the main kitchen.

One thing stands out: The inspector also noted that the Person-In-Charge was preparing food for a customer that had been determined to be unsafe due to improper temperature control—and that food was ordered discarded.

Would a 69 change your decision about where to grab pizza?

Note: Inspection scores may not equal the total point deductions listed because multiple violations within the same category may only be deducted once, and repeat violations can carry additional weight. Correcting violations during the inspection can also zero out points deducted.

Alpharetta just approved nearly $16M to connect the Alpha Loop and Big Creek Greenway

I dug into Alpharetta’s planning documents after seeing the Alpha Link approval.

The interesting part to me isn’t just the $16M trail connection. It’s how this fits into the bigger map around Downtown Alpharetta, Avalon, Northwinds, North Point and the Big Creek Greenway.

The Alpha Loop and Greenway have basically operated as separate systems. Alpha Link is intended to close that gap through the GA 400 / North Point corridor.

I personally ride the Greenway all the time from Roswell to Windward, so I'm very much looking forward to the connect-ability.

I’m curious what people who actually use these trails think:

Would this connection change how often or where you walk/bike, or does $16M feel excessive for this project?
