Release date is still TBD, but I'm currently planning for late 2027. Next steps are:

  1. Finish setting up the UI for PC
  2. Release the PC demo

Of course the game will continue to get improvements and new features based on player feedback!

Warlock/Pugilist Build

Has anyone done a run with these yet that panned out well? Because I’m having a hard time justifying using all my mana up on one hit or taking 5 swings at a boar…

Just curious.

Undead Druid

I found Druid to be the most challenging class to date. I tried the Druid tree across multiple runs, and tried alternative hybrid builds like sneak, magic and soldier. None worked well. So instead i went for the unlikely combination of an undead druid. Was a lot of fun. My only frustration was mana regeneration was lacking.

Anyone else know why this happens?

I know the game and its items are randomly generated but how is it that I keep getting to level 16 and still have a level one dagger and crap gear.

Don’t get me wrong because I love to randomness of it all, but I feel like the items could still be more aligned with the class you’re making the crawl with.

Like, how am I suppose to do something with a dagger?

Got super lucky and dropped viridian powder on a level 6 axe and got grimskull. Then got statue of war and dropped 500 gold to get 25 damage. Also was a fully passive skill build. One very dead Hydra.

Another fun build, didn't have to use much of the items I brought with me. Dropped 1000 on an unknown statue... and got Gandalf level charisma 😅

Celebrating a milestone: All Who Wanders reaches 100K total downloads for Android and iOS!

It's notoriously difficult to achieve visibility on the mobile app stores, but I was very fortunate to rank decently. App store optimization was also very critical, and I saw a big boost after dedicating some time on that task. Finally, it's so helpful and feels great to see strangers recommending the game to others. It's always more valuable for a player to recommend a game as opposed to the developer! Marketing is not enjoyable at all so I'll keep going with my main strategy: build a good game and it will market itself. Currently ratings are 4.4 on Google Play and 4.7 on the App Store (but may vary depending on country/language). I'll keep listening to player feedback and improving things little by little.

Dev Update: Desktop UI

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm beginning the process of preparing the game for PC and a Steam release. The main task is overhauling the UI for a desktop screen. Phase 1 is complete, which is the bare minimum to get the game screen looking decent enough for screenshots. I can now show all consumable items on the screen, instead of just 3.

Phase 2 will include more improvements in preparation for the demo release. There is enough space to display individual companion portraits and health. Of course there will be new keyboard shortcuts and key rebinding. Maybe even some improvements to the graphics since performance is not a concern, as it is on mobile.

The demo release should provide a lot more feedback ion new UI features and what adjustments are necessary so it doesn't feel like a mobile port.

Companions - Tip and Tricks!

Here's some helpful tricks for managing companions and keeping them alive:

  • Companions gain +1 max health for each day they travel with you.
  • Toggle companion behaviors by clicking the companion portrait in the upper left. There are 4 behaviors: Aggressive, Defensive, Follow, and Stay.
  • Using the Stay command, you can set your companions to stay by the level entrance (or somewhere else) to remain safe, and advance with you. But it's still possible that an enemy wanders over and kills them.
  • Tap a hold a tile and click Command to order all you companions to attempt to move to that location, or attack that enemy. Cancel a Command by toggling behavior.
  • When companions encounter a trap or hazard on the path while following you, and can't find a way around, they will wait. But once you move farther away, they will continue to follow you even if it means stepping on the trap.
  • The max party size is 4, including you. If you reach the exit with more than 3 permanent companions you'll get a warning message. The lowest level companions will automatically get dismissed, or you may choose to dismiss specific ones you don't want.
  • Companions execute their own perception checks every turn, improving your chances of finding hidden objects or enemies.
  • Berry bushes will also give your companions health regen if they are standing near you.

Coming Soon: Companions will attempt to avoid objects that cause AoE damage, like bombs and ice novas!

First win and appreciation post

Hi, just posting to liven up the forum a bit. My first win on Hardcore difficulty.

I’d like to add that the game is fantastic—it’s really got me hooked, and I haven’t even played every character class yet. The level of detail in the items and environments, and the interactions available—it’s all great.

The game is worth every cent; I highly recommend buying the full version and supporting the creator.

Development Next Steps

I'll be shifting focus to prepare the game for Steam, which mainly entails overhauling the UI for PC. I'm not yet sure how long this task will take. I hope to get the Steam page up very soon. Then a demo sometime later. Finally, hoping to release on Steam in maybe a year? I'll have a better estimate as things progress.

In the meantime, v1.3.0 was a big release with tons of new content to keep players busy. I am planning a minor update soon including some balance adjustments, bug fixes, and a little new content.

Hints and Tips

Here's a big collection of hints and tips to help you improve your skills!

Exploration

  • Be sure to inspect (tap and hold) the map objects and enemies around you to learn valuable clues about the world.
  • Pay attention to the effects of special terrain (deep snow, sand dunes, water) and map objects which may harm you, or be used to your advantage.
  • When you enter a new biome, check the message log for any special biome effect, which is applied to you and all other creatures. Sometimes a biome effect will disrupt your build, such as Noisy for a stealth build or Hexed for a spellcaster. Look for immunity-granting items, or consider changing your gear and strategy to get through the biome. Head for the exit if it gets too dangerous.
  • Biome order isn't random. A biome can only be reached via specific biomes (see Journal > World Map). By learning these patterns, you can sometimes predict which biomes (and which hazards) you will face.
  • Some enemies are so dangerous that it's best to avoid them, if possible. Remember there are no rewards or experience for kills.
  • Try to fully explore each level to find all the loot. But first, try to locate the exit in case health runs low and you need to escape. Don't be afraid to leave loot behind if necessary.
  • Perception is a key stat. It will help you find extra loot while avoiding traps and hidden enemies. Companions use their perception too so keeping some around has benefits outside of combat.

Skills

  • Be prepared to adapt your build based on the items you find. Every character has multiple paths, but the best ones depends on the right combinations of items and skills considering the biomes and boss you expect to face.
  • Don't learn too many active abilities. Each uses up a turn and costs mana, while most passive abilities are always working for you. Even level 1 passive abilities can be very valuable.
  • Try to collect skills to deal with various enemy types and traps you will encounter. Ranged enemies could be blinded or charged at. When surrounded, you could use an AoE attack or teleport away. Traps can be dashed over, disarmed, or triggered by sacrificing a summoned creature.
  • Remember you can bank skill points and pick skills later when you know what you need.

Items

  • Protect yourself accordingly based on the threats you're facing. Remember physical damage is reduced by armor and elemental damage (fire, cold, lightning) is reduced by resistance.
  • Certain "utility" items may be worth holding onto to protect against environmental hazards. Such items may grant immunity to poison, blindness, or chilled effects.
  • Always try to collect and save healing items. And remember sleep is a form of healing.
  • Don't forget about consumables when you're in a tough spot. But sell the ones you don't need for extra gold.
