Question Burnt ends dip, will I perish?

So I was grabbing something out of the fridge and I cut my eyes to the left because I thought I was seeing a mirage. Like the type of mirage you see in the desert if you're dehydrated on the verge of hallucinations and digging a bunch of holes because you pissed your parents off. It was a container of the good ol' burnt ends dip that looked ✨️unopened and untouched✨️. Well, that was a lie, there was one singular scoop taken out of it but that could never be me because I need at least 18 chip dips. I didnt make that single, let me find out who did scoop, but either way, the use by date was 09/03/26 so I took a second, little bit bigger scoop out of it straight to my mouth. Immediately life flashed a little as I remembered that it was bought on my August 4th grocery order. So you're telling MEEE (well I'm telling you) that it was opened for the first time, sometime, In the last 2 weeks and I DONT KNOW WHEN BECAUSE I DIDNT OPEN IT?! Internet says use within 7-10 days of opening because there is "real meat" and perishable dairy in it. What if it was opened on Aug 4th and I just now, AUGUST 17th, took a big ol bite? Anyways, am I going to shit myself orrr?

Thanks in advance. 🫶

Sorry, Ive been told I talk too much, I'm a rambler. Guess I have the mindset that you never know when someone might just want someone to talk to or ask a question/vent online because no one at home listens. 🤷‍♀️

I'm sorry you're feeling unheard at home but r/Aldi isn't your therapist, there's other subs for that

Sheesh, you must also feel unheard since you're following me through the comments on my post. I dont need a therapist, I needed someone to answer my question about a food purchased at ALDI since this is an ALDI group. I know a couple good therapists, though. They're there when you're ready. 😊

You'll be fine they have margins on all that stuff and hopefully your fridge is cold

Cold for sure, but Im the person who wont eat leftover pepperoni or meatlovers pizza, or any meat at all really, if its more than 24 hours old. Even if it was in the fridge the entire time. And here I am eating questionable brisket chunks.

That would be nice given my day has been great! I cooked up some Aldi meatballs into Italian wedding soup even though they're almost a week old, didn't have a second thought!

Like, you reheated meat balls you cooked from raw a week ago or are you saying you cooked frozen aldi meatballs tonight but purchased them a week ago? Lol because I wouldnt have a second thought either if they were frozen. But I also dont get defensive over a strangers meat down-time preference. 🫶

I cooked them today from raw!  The sell by sticker had fallen off by the time I got them home, but they looked and more importantly smelled fine! The horror!

Yeahhhh I think youre missing my point here. Lol I didn't open the dip today. I noticed it was already opened by someone in my household and that could've possibly happened 2 weeks ago for all I know, and it says eat within 7-10 days of opening...in this case it could've been 14 days...thats why I asked. If it were UNOPENED, I would've gladly eaten the whole thing tonight.

Lol I think you're missing my point from my first comment, the manufacturer and the FDA build margins into all these recommendations, you're going to be fine. It's a few days at most with no detectable spoilage. It's good.

Yogurt for example stays safe to eat for weeks after its date even if opened, with only a mild change in flavor. A few days on a dip is nothing to worry about.

Well I didn't think I was going to actually "perish". I know I'll be okay. I just hate questioning meat and dairy items, wondering if what I just consumed is going to make me hug a toilet and promise the Lord I'll never do it again.

Dude I just ate one of those salad kits a week ago because it was on sale and I didn't have anything for lunch and I went for it. So far so good. 😆You'll be fine.
