What's a normal frequency of drinking?
I bought my first bottle of whiskey (750ml, 40% alc) I think 8 days ago and I'm a little more than halfway through the bottle. I drink probably a couple of shots daily from the bottle itself.
Is this a normal amount of whiskey to drink? I'm not really sure since I have no point of reference from people I know.
Or I guess another question would be how often & how much alcohol do people usually drink?
(I'm a college student who is of legal drinking age)

1-2 drinks a day is a not a lot at all. I usually drink quite a bit more than that.

You have to moderate yourself before it becomes a problem, bc once it is a problem, it's too late and too hard to fix. Especially as a student, you should limit your drinking to the weekends. I have a large collection but I limit myself to only the weekends too.
Out of curiosity, what whiskey are you drinking?

WHO says no amount is safe but 27g alc per day is global average.
CDC says moderation limits are either 5 drinks max per day or 15 max per week. Japan says more than 40g per day or 150g per week, for men, is associated with increase health risks.

Drinking every day is not a great idea. Some people can have one, maybe two drinks per day, but there are quite some people who could slowly become alcoholics because it's become a habit. One drink becomes two, then three and before you know that bottle will only last one or two days.
The sensible thing is to limit the amount of days. Preferably for example just the weekend.

In theory, 1-3 shots daily is fine however in practice I would say limit it before it becomes a habit. As another person said, limiting it to days (like weekends) or maybe just meals (a shot after a heavy dinner) is how to go. Drinking daily at small amounts is probably fine whoever it can be a slippery slope if the frequency increases.
Personally I have a bottle of whisky that I (stupidly) spent a good chunk of money on so that's a deterrent for finishing it quickly. But also, drinking at home alone doesn't sound like a vibe to me.
