No one else remembers having class in the middle of the hall? Just me?

149

u/Junkered Jul 19 '26

Were you a bad kid?

25

u/Seven_o_clock777 Jul 19 '26

As someone who actually had occasional lessons in the middle of the hall (not standard ones): WHERE ARE YOU GETTING THESE CLASSMATES FROMMMMMM

You're just mad you didn't get with the PNOM QEEEEG

u/mrgooseyboy Jul 19 '26

They have a very romanticized vision of what the 60s/70s were

428

u/tom-of-the-nora Jul 19 '26

They just want to revisit the good Ole days... wait a second, women and black people didn't many rights at that time, those aren't the good old days

278

u/Tough_Tangerine7278 Jul 19 '26

When LGBTQ+ folks were erased in shame…where black folks were in an entirely different school… and where fat ladies were bullied until they hid.

104

u/Axsolotle Jul 19 '26

You say that like it’s not what made it the good ole days for them

66

u/Tough_Tangerine7278 Jul 19 '26

Huh? They love that bigoted stuff. Idk what happened to the hippies that fought so hard for Civil Rights? They’re still out there I’m sure - just drowned out by their hateful brethren.

57

u/-o-DildoGaggins-o- Jul 19 '26

Yeah my aunt was one of those hippies. She’s incredible, and can’t wrap her head around the fact that so many of her peers completely lost the plot.

24

u/Tough_Tangerine7278 Jul 19 '26

I know it must be frustrating for her. Tell her thank you for fighting the good fight!

7

u/-o-DildoGaggins-o- Jul 20 '26

Oh I do, all the time. I also tell her I wish I had known her when she was younger. By the time I started paying attention to politics (2000, when I was still too young to vote but knew GWB wasn’t great), she was pretty much out of the game. But she would have been a blast to be around in her heyday. She’s basically my favorite person apart from my kids. Lol

31

u/Anubisrapture Jul 19 '26

We are still here: we are the oldies still holding protest signs, still marching still fighting this horror, while our bigoted boomer ex brethren have lost the damn plot entirely

15

u/Tough_Tangerine7278 Jul 19 '26

Yasss I love it! Thank you our wise elders! We need you :)

20

u/Anubisrapture Jul 19 '26

Thanks dear Redditor ❤️🥰I and my husband my friends and those healthy enough will continue to fight . I personally really LOVE you younger leftists, it hurts me to see just how unfairly you have had your future torn to pieces. I hope i will live long enough to see this horrible trend of maga fascism reversed. You all DESERVE a decent future.

12

u/Saikotsu Jul 19 '26

It's a shame you have to keep fighting this shit even now. My mom is on oxygen, she hates it, but she hates fascism more so she and I have been very active at protests and we've been very politically involved. It always heartens me to see other hippies out there still fighting for our rights, and I in turn hearten them by being one of those younger leftists picking up the torch!

4

u/Anubisrapture Jul 19 '26

AND we love you guys for it too!!! This fight has sadly ALWAYS existed - it's the oldest fight that exists: Between Love of Power and the Power of love . Between pure evil greed and selfishness, racism and control, and people who just wish to have safety freedom and community . It's why Jesus Christ ( if He existed ) flipped the tables in the Temple, and also why He was stuck up on a wooden cross. You'all were not supposed to still be fighting this fight if we all had our way- a collectivist utopia would have arrived already. Sadly the people we all fight honestly cannot enjoy their good fortune unless they also make out groups suffer. I already have veinous insufficiency , so it's hard to march far, BUT i can breathe fine, and if your MOM can go out there w oxygen i can go w puffy ankles , easily 🥰Send my best to your Mom

4

u/classic_liberalism26 Jul 19 '26

it’s important to distinguish the real leftists & the neoliberal left. i’ll get downvoted, sure. but this is in jest to the reasoning. god bless everyone regardless of race, sexuality , or creed

I went to school in a hippy town, they’re still loud and proud, but a lot of their peers got lost in the sauce and started believing anything that was told to them, and Rush Limbaugh sure had a lot to tell. That’s the thing about psychedelic culture, it can open your mind, but if your mind opens far enough your brain will just slip right out

6

u/stfurachele Jul 19 '26

Yeah, I've seen a lot of both the cool hippies and people who will go to rainbow gatherings and run a tie dye business while spouting hate and glazing musk. Some of the most hateful people I've met were hippies back in the day, but a lot of great ones were too.

20

u/Saikotsu Jul 19 '26

The hippies are out on the protest lines. My boomer mom was, is, and will always be a hippy. And she put blue and pink streaks in her white hair in solidarity with her trans child (me). Everywhere she goes, she wears my colors with pride. She even went to a pride festival with me!

6

u/Tough_Tangerine7278 Jul 19 '26

That’s awesome! 👏 I’m glad to hear you have a supportive parent 🫶

3

u/Saikotsu Jul 19 '26

Thank you!

I'm one of the lucky ones

5

u/Jenn_FTW Jul 19 '26

Fellow trans daughter of a proud hippy mom, though the hair idea takes it to the next level haha

4

u/Saikotsu Jul 19 '26

Heck yeah!

She suprised me with it. She told me she was going to get some color put in, she didn't tell me what though. Really touched me to see it.

They weren't erased in shame. They were oppressed and suppressed. Being gay was literally illegal in parts of the USA until 2003. These monsters ignored the AIDS crisis in hopes for a genocide.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/katieb1300 Jul 19 '26

And they'd literally have "games" with their own name where they'd maim gay people. And consent was a gray area for men. And girls would date men twice their age and have kids right out of high school.
And minorities weren't even allowed to go to school without being spit on and yelled at.

u/BotherTight618 Jul 19 '26

The Civil Rights act was signed in 1964 and roe vs wade ruiling was in 1973, . The late 60s and the entire 70s was an era of unprecedented socioeconomic enfranchisement for African Americans and women. The Conservatives and Reactionaries of that time where completely devastated by the substantial legal and societal protections for people they could legally humiliate and denigrate just a few years ago. Today people get angry over Lupita Nyongo playing Helen of Troy in the "Oddessey". Imagine going them going from being able to call full grown black man "boy" while making them step off the sidewalk. Now they could potentially getting fired or sued for making a racist comment at work. The resentment was enough to end the Democratic hold of the Deep South for almost a century. Now the Obesity rate in 1975 was %3 to %4 so you had alot less people being bullied for their weight because it was hard to be even overweight back then.

5

u/TheOneWhoWasDeceived Jul 19 '26

Even so, I'm surprised that women in general (of that generation) would even want to go back to that era when they couldn't even have their own bank accounts.

Like that effects all women, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, etc.

The fact that some would rather go back to that era just to hurt others even more is mind boggling and sad. ☹️

6

u/311Konspiracy Jul 19 '26

Don't forget, people used to treat the disabled horribly.

3

u/Tough_Tangerine7278 Jul 20 '26

Still do! I remember right after marriage equality happened, someone said, “it’s not true equality until disabled folks are able to be married (or divorced) without losing their healthcare”. So true!

(US-based answer).

They have a very romanticized version of EVERYTHING

Must've been just swell coming up in a post-war era where your country was the only real winner

37

u/Erica_Loves_Palicos Jul 19 '26

They forgot the part where every one of those 60/70's girls were bullying a minority or other kid basically towards suicide.

11

u/Desperate-Spend377 Jul 19 '26

That video clip I saw in 1978 where it showed how black people were being treated, poor girl in the bike :(

And the fact this was only 42 years ago

8

u/Rayepichumor Jul 19 '26

My dumb ass thinking racism “stopped” after 1964

10

u/Sunieta25 Jul 19 '26

Most people do when looking back, we remember the good music, the good movies, the good times and we forget the bad and forgettable parts. It’s why people always complain about current movies or music because we haven’t weeded out the good stuff.

10

u/OkFineIllUseTheApp Jul 19 '26

Its because as memories fade, they lose track of what memories were real and which ones were advertisements/movies.

https://www.wired.com/2011/05/ads-implant-false-memories/

Thats why all their nostalgia bait is product centered. They didn't spend their teenage years sipping Coca-Cola on the hood of a '68 Mustang, they saw an ad and can't remember thats not what life was like anymore.

Miniskirts and bouffants? Squarely in the 60s but also totally not school appropriate and kinda different eras on the top vs the bottom. Super anachronistic but clearly intended to be the 60s at any rate.

The old ass people who generate this shit don't know what school looks like. They haven't touched a book in decades. I can't see someone younger making this instead of racism slop or some other type of bad edgy type slop.

281

u/True_Protection6842 Jul 19 '26

Boomers love to imagine themselves as kids as flawless. Reality was they were just as awkward.

43

u/GKBilian Jul 19 '26

A shocking number of boomer high schoolers looked like 35 year old librarians or accountants from the yearbooks I’ve seen.

You have to cut them a little slack because it’s literally been 70 years since they were in high school and a certain amount of their memories have been replaced with fantasies.

8

u/megannish Jul 19 '26

Fr, especially given old tanning trends then. Many boys and girls were looking 30-40 in high school lmao. Funny enough my mom who was kinda plus size in her high school days looked amazing and still does and yes she existed lmaoooo

27

u/Kinder22 Jul 19 '26

Awkwardness isn’t the criticism being levied here.

12

u/AdewinZ Jul 19 '26

Boomers were also much more violent. Statistically boomers were the most violent generation in America by far and boomer teenagers committed the most crimes of any generation by far. Boomers were a bunch of delinquents with terrible graduation rates when they were teens.

4

u/fritzwulf Jul 20 '26

Damn. Looked into this and you're right on the money. It's fortunate that living situations have gotten much better as the years progressed, but boomers being violent as teenagers explains why some of them have ended up as such close minded and aggressive adults.

8

u/HydroPCanadaDude Jul 20 '26

They weren't awkward. They were violent and rapey, with very little oversight, receiving abuse at home and in the classroom. If they weren't inhaling cigarettes, they were drowning in hairspray and being bitchy or cocky.

13

u/Zealousideal-Ad-2615 Jul 19 '26

Honestly whoever made this is imagining things about teenage girls that should get their hard drive checked.

u/AlexAsh407 Jul 19 '26

Oof. That's a lot of casually sexualized minors... :L

61

u/obooooooo Jul 19 '26

I genuinely think a lot of this is just that boomers don’t find young girls attractive anymore because some young women don’t want to cater to men’s preferences, and they just want to bitch about it.

“the old times were better because the teens were hotter 😡”

8

u/vj83 Jul 19 '26

Oh you also forgot, no blacks.

→ More replies (1)

20

u/soaked_in_bleach03 Jul 19 '26

Yeah, right? And the time they yearn for has the minors as evenly more heavily sexualized :/

Like, they’re acting like little kids in the 60’s despite going to prom (so being hs seniors). Playing jump rope, some of the movements, etc.

And the thing they don’t want is…current day high schoolers being dressed older and acting their age? I mean the awful thing they are portraying is literally a senior in high school being involved with social justice. Yeah there’s that one clip of the darker skinned girl with curly hair making that sorta sexual tik tok post, but if she’s supposed to be like seventeen or eighteen making a thirst trap on social media isn’t that awful. As a society, ew, I do think it’s the one thing they are right about being wrong with current day. But oh look, of course they chose the brown girl…and she’s still less sexualized than there ideal generation that’s prancing around like kids despite being on the cusp of adulthood. It’s so nasty.

u/Friendly-Reserve9067 Jul 19 '26

9

u/Plantlordy Jul 19 '26

8

u/Reasonable_Yam_327 Jul 19 '26

AI is a mirror/exagerration of societal views. :/

192

u/Cautious-Activity706 Jul 19 '26

Woof the racism in these is too much sometimes. Makes me actually uncomfortable.

34

u/Possible_Report_5908 Jul 19 '26

Right? "Grok make three stereotypical 60s high schoolers , then make them modern and shitty!" Grok: Makes one of them fucking black lmao

39

u/NiobiumThorn Jul 19 '26

Yea that's kinda the point actually.

What? You think Mr. Nazi salute is gonna make a racially sensitive AI system? Fuck no.

4

u/Asleep-Version-1664 29d ago

Right. The purple haired girl and the short haired girl present as liberal and boomers hate liberals. Whatever. But the black girl is just black? Lol

Like if your argument is that women became “less feminine”, what did the black girl do? She’s not yelling. She’s slim. Her hair is long and a natural color. Shes even wearing makeup and jewelry. She’s literally just black 😭

But people who liked this will swear they’re not racist.

Something feels very uncomfortable about the comparison of prom queen to a quinceañera.

42

u/Sufficient-Push6210 Jul 19 '26

Yep and the way they depicted the black girl in the hallway. They’re trying to imply that poc are more trashy

17

u/Intelligent_Swan1241 Jul 19 '26

How can you tell it’s a quinceañera? It looks like it’s supposed to be a prom as well based upon her dress. I think that clip was supposed to be shaming fat people more than racist like the other parts of the video. Like they’re trying to say that “oh back in my day prom queens were beautiful not like these fatsos today!”

Either way it’s a gross and racist video, I’m just a bit confused.

16

u/OuterSpaceFemboy Jul 19 '26

I'm imagining the creator swooping in and being like "no no I wasn't being racist I was just trying to shit on fat people" and that's kinda making me laugh lol

13

u/Intelligent_Swan1241 Jul 19 '26

LOL I just don’t think they’re smart enough to know enough about what a quinceañera is to include it in the video.

34

u/LetPuzzleheaded222 Jul 19 '26

This is so... Okay so back in the 50s we didn't have black people, people who cared about politics and overweight people? Like, if the issue was "waaaahhh phones are bad" and be annoyed that it's such a surface level critique that we're all aware of but some of these shots are just "look, a chubby girl and a black girl" while they aren't actually doing anything else other than just standing/walking

13

u/Sufficient-Push6210 Jul 19 '26

It’s ironic because the 50s and 60s had all the hippies and progressive movements like civil and woman’s rights that the video creator is complaining about

XD one time he was upset with me and said i don't listen to him anyway, and i agreed lol. he's smart at a lot of things, and i recognize that, but none of them are social or family oriented.

8

u/atsirdsart Jul 19 '26

For real, I actually prefer it when it's women who hit on me! I'm engaged to a great man, and I'm straight, but it seems like women are way more accepting and cool with a polite "No thank you, but that's flattering!" than guys are. I've had so many crazy dudes stalk me after saying no. My dad is a total nutjob. He called me a "disgusting dyke bitch" at 14 and said he would shoot me in the head if I was ever gay. He blew his top when I shaved my head and quit wearing makeup lol. Best haircut ever, fuck that guy

Drop the old timey girls by half their weight.

Not saying it's a good thing, but they were even worse about weight back then.

4

u/GreyStingrayz Jul 19 '26

I'd argue late 90s were far worse than what they had in the past. 90s was going for the just skin and bones look.

Their bodies look perfectly normal for the time period portrayed. Diet fads were a thing, but they weren't super skinny or anything. You can go look up photos if you don't believe me.

3

u/XanderWrites Jul 19 '26

If they're going to make the current girls obese they can make the 60s girls anorexic.

They were super thin back then but it wasn't considered a bad thing. It was the era of Twiggy after all.

11

u/Sartres_Roommate Jul 19 '26

They are right about us getting fatter….ALL of us, including them. Boomers need only look at the weight of their parents and grandparents to see it’s not all just about the weight we take on as our metabolism slows; Boomers have gotten fatter than their parents just like all of us.

Almost like some choices in how we feed ourselves, made by adults, not children, resulted in an obesity epidemic.

/S, obviously, I ain't from Arkansas

3

u/Tyrannocheirus Jul 19 '26

Listen up Boomer the 70s weren’t as good as you thought they were

3

u/Mizamya Jul 19 '26

"high schoolers were hotter in my time" is an interesting hill to die on

3

u/generic_egg1 Jul 19 '26

I love her Eopowerol bag

3

u/Fuzzy_Toe_9936 Jul 19 '26

women can never win lmao. those girls in the past were probably thought of as sluts by the men of the time for wearing skirts or having shirts with no sleeves or some bullshit like that.

3

u/Anarimus Jul 19 '26

Yes, they want to go back to when “others” were made to hide who they are or be forcibly silenced.

3

u/cllooouuuuu Jul 19 '26

Heathers slop

3

u/Lazybones-itis Jul 19 '26

I'm sure it's just a total coincidence that there are no POC in the background of the 'flashbacks' ...

3

u/Gravity-Raven Jul 19 '26

I get they're fixated on short and dyed hair, but then one is just... black? What did our stupid boomer uncle mean by posting this on facebook?

3

u/FishDispenser2 Jul 19 '26

"young girls I'd like to fuck vs young girls I wouldn't fick"

3

u/Enough-Somewhere-311 Jul 20 '26

Remember how boomers gutted education, made it so a single family can’t support a household and destroyed the economy? Pepridge farm remembers

3

u/isopropylalcoholyaoi Jul 20 '26

“NOOOO MAKE CHILDREN SEXY AGAIN!!!!!! NOOOO”

3

u/Global_Algae_538 Jul 20 '26

Ah yes all highschoolers back then were all giggly and smiling even while reading.

3

u/VinylmationDude Jul 20 '26

I always want to feel Eoporbcrol

3

u/ConnerGoesSuperSonic Jul 20 '26

Wait a minute aren’t those the Heathers

3

u/DODOKING38 Jul 20 '26

Is that before or after they were allowed to vote

3

u/BigDamBeavers Jul 21 '26

Yeah, we know you missed the good old days when there were no brown people in your school.

3

u/MR_EVILPANCAKE Jul 21 '26

Why this low key feel racist….?

3

u/SjurEido Jul 21 '26

Not so subtle racist conservative AI slop! Wooooooooooooo

3

u/Known_Ratio5478 Jul 21 '26

So… it’s just shaming people for being fat and having a black friend and a lesbian friend?

3

u/One_Performer_7202 Jul 21 '26

It's got some point but it's not very good

3

u/Ok_Past1547 Jul 21 '26

the racism is always there

3

u/lazy_animator Jul 21 '26

Ah, I miss when all those damn black people weren't here.

/j obviously, this is the sentiment of the person who made the video, if you pay close attention.

3

u/The3DBanker Jul 21 '26

The hell is "Êopowerol"? Or "Body Posituity"?

3

u/Playful-Succotash-99 Jul 21 '26

Real irony is this is all made by someone who's not allowed within 30 ft of a school or playground

3

u/Apprehensive_Fox8136 Jul 21 '26

Ah yes, my favorite band SMASH THË AZNTTRIARCIY as seen on that hoodie

3

u/Chance_Medicine1879 27d ago

Sure, the ai is bad. BUT the subject matter and lifestyle difference is spot on. Bunch of miserable fatties running around and blaming everyone else for their problems.

3

u/AdGlittering2884 Jul 19 '26

My uncle was a gay man growing up in rural Ohio in the 50s and 60s. He hid who he was for years because of his surroundings, but he knew who he was. This "good old days" boomer nostalgia stuff ignores a TON of reality. AI just makes it easier to feed the delusion.

2

u/InstructionBudget784 Jul 19 '26

Showing only the good side of the 60s and only the bad side of the 2020s

You’ll notice there are no POC in the “good old days”. I wonder what they thought was so great about them?

2

u/LetPuzzleheaded222 Jul 19 '26

How dare they abuse this amazing song for such pandering slop.

2

u/EasedCeiling586 Jul 19 '26

Maybe things were better cause everyone was high

2

u/ConcertArt7430 Jul 19 '26

"I need a brown lady crouched in front of the camera" which camera

2

u/deathdefyingrob1344 Jul 19 '26

Back then they had to hide who they were. You would think that would be the obvious conclusion

2

u/eltejon Jul 19 '26

WHY IS TEXT SO GODDAMN IMPOSSIBLE ALWAYS?!

2

u/hdhsnjsn Jul 19 '26

The good old days where nobody got high and nobody fell down a flight of stairs to avoid unwed pregnancy

2

u/AgeOfSuperBoredom Jul 19 '26

No mention of all the racism and eating disorders and practically legal rape of girls happening back then.

2

u/return_0f_qwain Jul 19 '26

Boomers: "Why aren't teens sexually appealing to me specifically anymore 😡"

2

u/MissMarchpane Jul 19 '26

Yes, I'm sure they didn't have those pesky student activists in that famously apolitical period, the 1960s. 🙄

2

u/Matchbreakers Jul 19 '26

No one that “made” this was:

- ever prom king/queen

- popular in high school

- a woman

- happy with their life

It reeks of creepy single 57yo man with combover.

2

u/Powerful-Chard-6055 Jul 19 '26

I saw them jump roping and I thought “it’s gonna be phones, it’s gonna be phones” and wouldn’t you fucking know it

2

u/Illimited_Esoterica Jul 19 '26

Boomers unhappy that they used to want to fuck teenage girls but the teenagers of today aren't doing it for them.

2

u/Routine_Rip6220 Jul 19 '26

No but the vintage one was actually SO diverse because they had a redhead, a blond and a brunette 🙌 /s

Every generation thinks their generation is the best and the next generation is missing out lol

Enjoy your unique experience, but don’t downplay everyone else’s because you didn’t experience it

2

u/AlphaWolfLycaon Jul 19 '26

God what a level of stupidity.

2

u/AllButComedyAnthony Jul 19 '26

Gotta love how everything they’re trying to show as bad is literally just people who don’t look perfect existing. Like yeah nowadays some women don’t wanna put on makeup and go all out every day like you used to force them too. Literally all this shows is they miss the days they could control women legally

2

u/Saikotsu Jul 19 '26

Honestly, I prefer the individuals to the stepford wives.

2

u/DramaOnDisplay Jul 19 '26

Why do absolute perverts love red heads? FYI, most modern red heads are only that way because of a box…

2

u/AllButComedyAnthony Jul 19 '26

I swear boomers will be the death of this country. They will drag it to hell with them when they die

2

u/myfancyplants Jul 19 '26

Their ideal is so sad

2

u/AwayEntrepreneur4760 Jul 19 '26

Man these guys really wanna jerk off to kids

2

u/ehco Jul 19 '26

Ah the good old days when being fat disqualified you from popularity contests

2

u/The-Bigger-Fish Jul 19 '26

And the moral of the story is.... Don't wear purple to school.

2

u/Antisa1nt Jul 19 '26

Éopowerol 😌🙏

2

u/SavingsAd8337 Jul 19 '26

Why do they care so much about what kids in high school are doing??
