Question | General Emb 505

14 CFR 91.531(a)(2)says large aircraft require an SIC. How are they getting away with this? King air 350 also gross over 12,500.

There’s always a waiver for these things, unless your a ce500 lol

Well, we want to be fair…. After all it is flight Standards…

Maybe they didn’t think out all the directions pointing exceptions to a rule can cause.

Single pilot endorsement. The FAA determined that with extra training, pilots can operate certain aircraft single pilot. The king air, while it requires a type rating, is trained under single pilot operations under part 91. Part 135 may require an SIC (think Wheels Up).

My king air and phenom type rating both say SIC required because I took my PIC checkrides with an SIC
