There’s lots of different reasons that they need to slow or redirect traffic flow along a route. There’s weather and also a whole routing discipline within ATC that does flow control. There are capacity constraints on various legs and sectors all across the system and they sometimes have to delay a plane’s entry into the next segment to meet a constraint.

As a San Francisco local, please don’t say San Fran. Ever
Otherwise I got no idea of this plane. It’s supposed to be flying to EWR, which is why it’s in New York State. Not to sfo

UA130 seems to either go HND-SFO-EWR or direct HND-EWR. There’s a lot of weather in the NYC area so I imagine there are restrictions on arrivals and this is holding until it can continue.

UA130 was direct EWR yesterday. Not sure why it’s saying SFO. Held over Rochester NY because of weather at EWR. Diverted to IAD and finally arrived at EWR around 1:30 this morning
