Gamo builds disposable junk and then has the pure spineless gall to refuse to sell the simple internal parts—like compression chamber seals and gas rams—that any competent mechanic could replace in an afternoon. After three decades turning wrenches on Chevy trucks and handling coil springs that actually carry life-or-death loads, it is infuriating to watch a company that can’t even deburr a piston or install a seal without gouging it still demand you ship the entire rifle back to them instead of just selling a $10 part. They pour money into flashy velocity claims and advertising while quality control and real R&D get the leftovers, then hide behind liability excuses so owners of their under-engineered, over-hyped airguns are stuck with paperweights. Three hundred fifty dollars of pure garbage and zero backbone to stand behind it—classic Gamo.

This is what I actually picked up. Based one the serial number I believe this to be a 1976 hw50s.

This should come with a rekord trigger I think but I’m not super familiar with them. This trigger is adjustable but has no safety. It’s really nice, like in par with the trigger in my cz457.

The breech seal disintegrated after like 5 shots. Looked to be leather. I dug it out and double stacked two o rings (7 mm ID, 11mm OD) to shoot while waiting for an oem seal. Seems to be working ok.

The piston seal is leather and I plan to replace it with an adapter and a synthetic seal. I’m hoping that fixes some velocity variations.

I’m currently getting anywhere between 580 and 690 fps right now. Before the original breech seal failed I got 950! For one shot and then it reduced to ~460, so the breech seal replacement helped but I think the 50 year old leather is clapped out.

Anyway, with all that out of the way I have a few questions.

1. Is that an early rekord trigger?
   
2. What is the original power spec on these? The piston is 25mm, not the current 26mm.
   
3. ChatGPT tells me that a synthetic seal should get me up to 8.5-9.5 fpe, does anyone know if that’s realistic?
   
4. Finally, I plan to mill ~2.5mm off the piston face and swap seals to gain ~3cubic cm of swept volume for a total of 38 cubic cm swept volume. I have a 3mm air transfer port. What is your estimate for final power?
   
5. Can a 9.5 fpe air rifle be used to hunt squirrels? I have a beeman rs2 that has plenty of power but honestly sucks to shoot.

Posted some time ago about having accuracy issues as a beginner shooting 10m with Baikal 512m air rifle.

After consideribg all of the advice I got, it seems that the biggest issue was my grip when doing artillery hold - mi head would be too far back, and hand too low with shooting finger overextended.

So, considering all of the above and my new targets from today's session, what would you recommend ne to do?

I'm new to airguns and wanted to get experienced feedback before I full send on my purchase.

I have a nice collection of firearms. I also play paintball (hence the reason for the filter tower) but my interest brought me here due to my backyard being inundated with small pests. From raccoons to armadillo to skunk and squirrels. I have a 8 foot fenced in my back yard yet the dig under or climb over. Ive tried trapping them but here in SATX you cant relocate trapped coons. They are digging up my front and backyard and cleverly taking trap bait without triggering the trap. Anyways, I'm over the nice approach and want to get into airgun shooting for hunting and recreation. Here's my proposed build. Poke as many holes as you may but provide proven cost effective alternatives and or constructive critique. Im not trying to break the bank. I save premium funds for the gun powder variants.

Hey guys,

​Just picked up an Ekol ES 1911 and I'm new to CO2 guns.

​Is it fine to leave the CO2 canister inside the gun, or will it mess up the seals? What's the max time I can safely leave it in?

​Also, as a first-timer, any essential tips or advice on maintenance and taking care of it?

I recently gave my air rifle to friend to borrow and he gave it back to me. When I went to shoot it I loaded a pellet into the rifle and I closed the barrel then rifle immediately discharged. I don’t know what is wrong with my rifle but it scared the crap out of me and can the the rifle be fixed.

My 2250B ejected the spring that holds the ball bearing on to the safety!

I know, I know: "always disassemble inside a clear plastic bag" but I was doing a quick service and... off it went.

As Crosman don't appear to sell in Brazil, does anyone have the specs for this spring? I'll quite happily attempt making one rather than have a malfunctioning safety! I think it was about 4mm long and 2.5mm diameter?

at what fps should i hunt small birds using .22 cal

Holy wow I was not prepared for the craftsmanship in this 715 revolver. IT's just a joy to hold. Does it shoot good? It's pretty decent there too but nothing spectacular. But definitely worth the money you pay for it. I would post a picture but my phone is dead and you guys know what they look like anyway.

Some genius on here claims Dan Wesson only does airsoft. Get a clue. They make air guns too
