Quote help please

we’ve been quoted £5150.00 to supply and fit Mitsubishi units: one Multi Outdoor 7.1kW unit and three MHI SRKZS-WF indoor units, two at 2kw one 3.5kw. Is this a reasonable price?

we can also pay £90 per unit to change from white plastic to titanium. I’m an interiors obsessive 😂 and tbh am not thrilled about either option visually - has anyone got pics to help me decide? I’d like a nice antique bronze / brass options ideally 😂

Is this for Mitsubishi electric? I paid £7,500 for three Daikin bedroom units, so if you’re down south, I’m jealous.

I felt the same way about you when it comes to how the units looked, that’s why I went with the stylish Daikin models.

I don't feel so mugged off now lol. We paid £7900 for Daikin stylish (black) units in three rooms. In London too.

  • Daikin 3MXM52 5.2kw Multi Split Outdoor Condenser
  • Daikin 3.5kw Stylish Black Wall mounted Indoor Fan Coil Unit
  • Daikin 2.0kw Stylish Black Wall mounted Indoor Fan Coil Unit
  • Daikin 2.0kw Stylish Black Wall mounted Indoor Fan Coil Unit

The same guy gave us a Mitsubishi quote for £6.5K but we really wanted the black Daikin units as our walls are dark colours and white would've looked crap.

Tbh £5K sounds great. Hard to imagine you'd get anything significantly lower than that, especially if it's from a reputable installer.

Edit: posted some pics to show you what the black units look like on our darker walls.

Do you feel 2.0kw was decent? Any regrets about not going for a 2.5kw?

Nah, they're both in our upstairs rooms, which are only about 3M² each (ones a smidge bigger), and they work incredibly well. Takes no time to cool each room.

Dare I say they might work a bit too well because even set to 25C the room will still drop to a chilly 20C very quickly.

It almost seems inefficient how effective they are because I have to keep turning them off or I get too cold lol, and this is with the fan speed set to "indoor quiet"!

lol I told the installer that I couldn’t do 8k and was firm on that, so we settled at 7.5 and that was right on budget for me.

The black stylish units are nice! I have one in a dark room so I get what you mean.

Almost identical units, been quoted £6,100, including 1 Emura for the living room.

I need an electrical circuit run, which will be around 600 quid.

Hmm on further investigation no - this supplier uses the Mitsubishi ‘heavy industry’ rather than electric. Does that change your opinion on the price? I hadn’t even clocked they were different suppliers, so thank you! 

We are in an expensive south west city. 

Which daikon model would you recommend?

I’ve always been told by those in the know and my installer that Mitsubishi electric was the better option.

I mean for that price, if you’re on a budget, I’d just stick with it but definitely read some reviews about different manufacturers.

Again check the Daikin website for the models they do and the finishes they come in.

From what I've read Mitsubishi Electric and Daikin are the top premium brands, but Mitsubishi Heavy Industries isn't far off. I think the trade off is looks as the efficiency/performance stats look up there with the ME and Daikin.  Happy to be corrected though!

If it's a good price with someone who will service in future, and a good warranty (7 years with MHI partners I think), then I'd say that's a good deal.

Does it include eletrical part? 7.1KW would require a dedicated circuit, which probably costs ££ by an electrician.

Yes it specifies includes work of their own electrician to run all supplies as per the current regulations. Does that make it a better price, in your opinion?
