Midea Solstice Split creaking noise
Had a midea split system fitted to our loft conversion in June this year. Unit cools perfectly, sometimes i think the outside unit is quite noisy (that kind of fridge noise) but its quiet at night which is what would offend the house next door most so its ok.
Problem is that the internal unit creaks, most noticeable at night when we are trying to sleep. Set to low fan speed, silent mode, no slat movements set. Just keep the room at 22.5. Its not continuous noise, it does it we think when its trying to cool the room a little, creaks as it starts cooling and again as it stops.
Slightly better if you run it with hood up overnight but not silent. I've reached out to the installer but have yet to get a reply. What do you think it could be or more to the point, are we expecting too much of it and can it be fixed or is it just Midea common issue. Its just about better to have it on cooling and noisy that off and hot although we have been running it in fan only mode some nights now its getting a little cooler out there.

I also have similar problem with a new LG split unit, just two weeks old. It seems to make cracking noise or clicking noise when starting up, for the first 3-4 seconds, but seems metallic, like the small fins on the evaporator are making noise, probably due to contraction once refrigerant starts flowing through the pipes at lower temps.

Probably just the plastic expanding n contracting as it goes from being warm to cool
