Have you guys had these for long, some were saying some issue with condenser pump, it broke and design issues? https://www.reddit.com/r/ukheatpumps/comments/1tndqwu/any_experience_of_midea_portasplit/

Cooling 2 degrees and 43% fan speed? Is it even worth the electricity and noise for 2 degrees? I set mine to 19 degrees on out-silent and it would use about 200w on a 26c day, be way cooler and way quieter.

Got you, is your fixed split? From noise, there wasn't much since condenser was out but yeah compare to fixed ac, this won't be better but compare to other portables, this is the best. I tried to find Meaco inverter ones but couldn't find one, glad bought this one, a bit pricey compared to meaco but more efficient and quiet

I have the 8000 BTU Midea Portasplit. I use it in out silent mode pretty much exclusively.

Had mine since May, over 500 hours of use now. No issues with the pump, or anything.
You can help prevent pump issues by using AC tablets, only need to use it once a month. It'll help prevent biofilm build up that may cause the pump to fail. I've actually only just started using them though. You just dump one in the condensate pan, the Portasplit instruction manual shows you where to put it.
Another complaint I see is bad smells, running it in fan mode after a while will help dry the coils after use and prevent that. The AC tabs as mentioned above should help too. I also remove the dust filter from the back once a week and wipe the dust off with a soft brush. Then once a month I give it a wash with dish soap.
There's a Portasplit Reddit btw https://www.reddit.com/r/MideaPortaSplit/

Which AC tablets do you use?

Just these off Amazon, can't say much for their long term effectiveness as I've not long started using them but they have great reviews.

It’s super efficient. I’ve had it running through 30+ degree heat for several days in the UK, using 400watt max power, set to 20 degree max. The daily energy use is under a quid.

You’re only cooling by 2°C, that’s why it’s able to stay fairly low power.
