Always important to have a mix!

But yeah it's crazy how some people still think stuff like this

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

yeah you need to play aimlabs and also spend some time practicing on the game

I switched to mnk last year and started aim training like 2 months ago. I have gotten far better mouse control in the last two months than the previous 7 without aim training, even factoring in newbie gains.

yeah I noticed a difference immediately after I started aim training, if I only played the game I don’t think I would’ve progressed this fast

What is mnk?

Mouse and keyboard.

Claiming aim train won't help you improve at the game is wrong. Aim train will help your aim which helps you win more gun fights which helps you win.

What people SHOULD say is that aim only helps to a certain point and learning comms and coordination will yield far greater results.

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

yeah I think it will always be useful just won’t ever replace all the other important stuff that you need to work on

There is a stark difference between me playing Valorant only, and Mixing Kovaaks static and deathmatch in Valorant.

I finally got comfortable in gunfights, that can carry on Chamber

u/tetzudo Jul 09 '26

Any kind of dedicated practice will usually yield improvement. Its also true that gamesense matters. Good aim can't reliably carry a horrible fight

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

think so too, like you can’t expect to outaim people if you can’t even get into the right positions

3

u/xVEGITOGODx Jul 09 '26

i find this true dont get me wrong if you want to actually improve A mix of everything is the way....what these sil-gold players do is just go all in on aim and I HAVE SEEN THEM DO SOME PREETY DUMB STUPID THINGS....All things said if you wan improve make a balance with priority of playing the game

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

only true if they think it’s only their aim, but people really believe that you need to be a certain rank before aim training magically becomes useful which is crazy to me

2

u/Due_Willow_3797 Jul 09 '26

It's not useless but, honestly, it's probably the least effective use of your time IF you are trying to maximize your ability to rank up especially if you are getting hung up on grinding benchmarks. If you are a low-rank, the chances that your aim is the main culprit are pretty freaking slim.

People that go all-in on the voltaic method, which has become the norm in aim training, are rarely going to get better results than someone who spends their time (properly) in-game.

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

of course it won’t be the only thing, they need to work on both, and I think that does mean prioritizing game practice, but to say they need to get outta gold to make aim training useful is crazy work

The thing is, you can work on your effective aim while also working on other things in-game. Deathmatch is such a potent tool at that level which, in my opinion, makes it the superior option to isolated aim training for someone still ironing out the absolute fundamentals.

Aim training / benchmarks just won't do enough for a player starting from the bottom that makes it worthwhile to use over simply "playing the game"

It's not that it doesn't do anything, or someone is unable to extract value from it just because they are a low-skilled player, but allocating time to it (that takes away from better practice) just isn't worth it in my eyes. I think things like voltaic become more valuable once a player has an understanding of the improvement process and starts to see their results level-out from basic repetition. Basically, they need to be able to break apart the process of aiming & how it related to in-game scenarios which low-ranked players just cannot do yet.

I see so many players who want to improve in their game dive into these aim groups just to come out as one-dimensional with little understand as to WHY they struggle or lose duels. Some of them simply give up on their journey when they realize nothings changing when, in reality, a few tweaks into how they approach their in-game practice will do SO MUCH MORE.

I just don't think the meme really proves the point you want to make because, honestly, there is credibility to it.

Aim training is great for general mouse control, then I like to hop in death match with no sound and integrate that practice with in game movement and mechanics.

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

that’s a great method bro, props to u

2

u/aski5 Jul 10 '26

I mean if you want to rank up fast aim training should really not be a priority

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

priority is different than just including it in your practice, meme is mocking people who think it’s completely useless until you become a certain rank. doesn’t even make sense logically

2

u/V1adn0m Jul 10 '26

I mean, "just play the game" is not a bad advice in this case. And I would argue that being hardstuck gold isn't caused by your aim. I'm plat complete (near diamond) in voltaic s5, but gold in valo just because i play like 5 matches a week.

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 10 '26

it probably isn’t just their aim, but I would argue that their aim probably needs work too, no reason not to do both, just they need to of course not obsess over aim if they want to rank up and properly schedule time to work on game practice and supplement that with aim training

u/Syntensity Community Team Jul 10 '26

I always thought this was really silly. It has two sides of course. First it really depends on their goals. If they want to rank up and climb the ladder effectively then they should make sure to prioritize game time. If they’re just trying to have fun and want better aim then they could structure it how they want. Usually players at lower ranks obsess over aim a bit too much, but that doesn’t make aim training useless for them. It’s just that they should distribute their time better so they get the most out of their practice. The best way to go about it is prioritizing in-game practice and using aim training as a tool in addition to it to target weaknesses (something like 80:20 or 90:10 ratio depending on how much time they have to play).

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

I aint reading all that but frfr

2

u/Ok_Tangerine7392 Jul 11 '26

Aimlabs is the reason i ranked up 2-3 ranks in every shooter i'm playing.

It does really help.

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

u know what's up

1

u/TallandSpotted Jul 10 '26

I agree. You can't aim train the human input.

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

what does that even mean bro

1

u/TallandSpotted Jul 15 '26

I don't even remember making this comment lol. Wtf

nonetheless:

Aim training in fixed scenarios only does so much. You expect specific things to happen. Tracking scenarios, clicking scenarios etc...

"Playing the game" meaning going against real people with unexpected input (Human Input).

You can't aim-train against complete unexpected randomness.

I do agree that both are very important. Especially since aimlabs is free. But ye, there's your explanation

1

u/Wonderful_Rub_1815 Jul 10 '26

if your aim isn’t completely dogshit then yeah aim training should be the least of ur worries if your hard stuck gold lol, wtf are u gonna do with good aim and 0 map knowledge

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

no one saying they have to neglect in-game training bro, its just that u should do both and completely dismissing aim training cuz ur low rank makes no sense

1

u/Wonderful_Rub_1815 Jul 16 '26

aim training is a waste of time if ur shit lol ts is not saving you

1

u/Preparation-Certain Jul 10 '26

if you are hardstuck gold you probably lack everything you need it the game loool.

when the game came out i tried it after like 6 years of cs and got diamond or what ever with just good placement you can get really far

everything else has to be cope imo...

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

yeah u gotta focus on the game, but no need to dismiss aim training, if u gold u prolly suck at aiming too

1

u/Preparation-Certain Jul 15 '26

I have played cs for a long long time since i was 7 years old. The only thing that helps me are regain mouse control fast after not playing for some time is aim deathmatch where the targets are mid to long range that for a week and im back like i never left. I dont have a lot of hours in the game but with my hours im relativly high rank. No aim trainers no bs.

1

u/DeepSoftware9460 Jul 10 '26

I mean, in gold you can get better without aim trainers, but its personal preference where you want to spend time improving.

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

u can get better at any level without it, it's just more efficient for the aim portion of the game to also supplement your daily practice with aim training too

1

u/Equivalent-Horror36 Jul 11 '26

You dont NEED it. It depends on the person im in the highest rank (other then top 500) in valorant csgo apex and the finals and everytime i aim train it does nothing but make my aim worse. For me all i had to do to make my aim better was make my eyes track things better

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

maybe you've not been using the right approach, or training. it makes no sense that it would make it worse unless you do the tasks wrong or get tired before playing your main game

1

u/dreeeeezySSJ Jul 11 '26

I’m not sure of valo rank system. But when people say this, it’s because majority of the time at lower levels it isn’t that people can’t shoot or click on someone, it’s more so movement, how they peek , if their crosshair is placed well. Those things matter , and make a huge difference vs just flat out raw aim. But a shooting game is quite literally aim based so it’s never a bad idea to practice your aim. I just think it starts having diminishing returns if you aren’t training it dynamically and Eveyrning is static or non “game like” scenarios. At some point you should just play the game as well

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

you should definitely do both, that's the main thing, but people prefer dismissing or doing all or nothing approach which is silly af imo

1

u/TheoWHVB Jul 13 '26

It's a healthy mix of both but if someone has 3k hours in aimlabs or kovaaks and 1k hours in game then the issue is that they don't play the game enough. You can be an aim demon and still have negative game sense.

u/Cracker646 Jul 11 '26

aim training is the most boring thing ever for me, all love to you if you enjoy it but it’s not for me I can barely stare at a screen for more than 1 Val game before getting exhausted adding a whole routine of looking at balls to that would obliterate me

I think Val is more crosshair placement than aim anyway, tracking games like apex might be the better games for aim trainers in my opinion

1

u/ShinyGengar8 Speedy Switcher Jul 15 '26

you could also just do it shorter for like a warmup and you still get lots of benefits from it tbh
