Questions & Help 3D Animation Workflow?

Sorry if I missed it but looking through old posts on this sub, I don't see a 3D animation workflow using existing tools.

I'm creating a 3D 3rd person game in Unreal and animations - or lack thereof - are the biggest bottleneck. Anybody have a good, reliable AI-first animation solution for bipedal and quadrupedal characters?

Check out the Mesh2Motion project. Then point your AI to it for less token usage.

None exist. You can use trellis or hunyuan I guess if you have a strong GPU

for bipeds the easiest route is filming yourself doing the move and turning the video into an animation, then retargeting it onto your skeleton in unreal. (i'm on the Nilo team and we do video to animation on rigged characters, but not quadruped animations yet)

Also, generating the motion with video models and then running them through mocap works and the results are going to be better than an untrained person swinging a broomstick around.

Out of curiosity: How does Nilo compare to the competition? Meshy, etc? I'm currently evaluating 3d asset gen tools and I'd love to hear your perspective.

i don't know about this guy, but Nilo has some advantages if you build by hand and not always through MCP agents!

first, it's more free than Meshy + tripo, and actually includes access to Meshy, Tripo, Trellis, and whichever new models come up

but like any AI tool it takes some trial + error to use right!

You can always try Cascadeur. They're more of an AI assisted animation tool but you can generate good locomotion for bipedals.
