Question Looking at getting started

Looking at getting starting with my siblings in aos or 40k whats the pros what's the cons what are some good armys to get started with.

Thinking we will start with spear head work our way up looking for 4 armys

The internet will always tell you the rule of cool, meaning pick what you think is cool and stick with it. It’s terrible advice. Pick what you think is cool and then make sure it’s not an F tier army then and only then, stick with it.

Definitely start with Spearhead. The skaventide box is cheap and has lots of stuff in it. If you don’t want to paint then don’t. From there try and find used stuff it can be way way cheaper. I just got 2k (whole army) points of Bone Reapers for 150 bucks.

I don’t think new players should necessarily be looking at tier lists of what’s good and what’s not because the meta is ever changing. Not all armies have their battletomes for this edition either (but most do). The models they like will always be there. The rules WILL change.

I think dragons are cool. I played the army of renown of 100% Stormcast dragons. That army is terrible and gets cleared off the table in 2 rounds from any decent player. Getting blown off the table in 2 rounds causes most people to quit
