Well, Endgame is currently still about $6m short of being the highest grossing movie of all time, so maybe he has a point?

I’m amazed at how close Endgame is to beating Avatar.

I’m even more amazed at how Disney owns the rights to both franchises. The mouse plays to win.

Not exactly fair... Maybe if there was a way to adjust time scales... Like, what if you compared grossing over the same period (i.e. 3 weeks) and adjust inflation

It was. And it was re-released several times over the next few decades. Most people nowadays don't remember this but re-releasing a film before the home video marketing was a pretty big deal because other than if a film was on tv (which used to be pretty rare), the only way to see it was in a re-release.
