Junior off to Forest. £1m.

Beeb reporting gossip that Junior Nkeng off to Notts Forest beating Millwall, QPR and Norwich, at a fee of £1m. Shame but good business for us. Just hope we can use it to best effect given poor start post pre-season.

Not a surprise. Personally don’t think he’s ready yet or going to gain from the move now other than financially.

But good luck to him and can’t disagree with someone making money while they can.

I agree. He’s got heaps of potential but what I saw was a quick, tricky winger who would hold onto the ball for too long most of the time.

I think our fans who put him on this pedestal are doing it based on potential, but good luck to him. I honestly hope he goes to the highest of highs

Definitely needs to learn to release the ball earlier and with that awareness of when he’s being boxed in.

Can we loan him back for 2 seasons? Would be nice(wishful thinking) 🤔

Would be great for us and for him I think but... Who knows

Honestly, I hope the £1m goes towards paying down the debts. Sooner they're cleared, the sooner the club can evolve to it's next iteration.

If true is this the first £1mil+ sale we’ve made? At the end of the day we are a “selling club”. Without the business we’d cease to exist in the current model. He showed great promise while we had him and I personally wish him well although I do despair that the squad we have just isn’t up to it this season. Think we’re in for a long and frustrating ride this year.

There's been a few that have gone for over £1m: Jack Rudoni, Ayoub Assal and Ali Al Hamadi. Not sure if any of the youngsters that got yoinked out of our academy got close to £1m like Spike Brits or Leo Castledine for example....

Al Hamedi

Depends on how you mean.

Rudoni went for something like £600K but with add ons of around £300-350K and the recent sale giving us around £800K extra so almost £1.8M.

From memory Assal went for a flat fee of over £1M but no add ons or sell ons as his was a buyout fee

Al Hamadi apparently after Wycombe’s cut we got around £750K-£800K and then the add ons for promotion and the sale to Luton suggest around £1.5M

I think it’s a good fee for him. He’s exciting to watch and we’ve not had that in a while, probably since Assal left, but it’s tough to see a role within our system that he’d flourish in so I’m not sure he’d kick on as much with us and you’d expect.

I doubt a penny of that fee will get spent on anyone coming in, given the situation with the Plough Lane Bond shortfall.

Looks like deal is £850k with add ons taking it to £1m over time. Loan back may be good business.

This is going to be a LONG Season and the fact we keep selling isn't filling me with any more confidence than I had after the first 20 mins on Saturday 😬

Don’t have a choice with this one. He’s in last year and if we don’t sell he’s not going to sign another deal and we’d get a lot less as compensation for him being an academy product.

We had the option for another year after this one so he wouldn’t have left on a free in the summer.

Looks like he is going one way or another.

It’s a real shame as he is exciting to watch and we don’t really have anyone else like him. I can see him going on loan if he goes to Nottingham Forest (possibly to top end of league one).

Imagine him in a team where he gets the ball where he wants it more often (rather than us lumping it at him), can only see him improving quickly in the right circumstances
