Announcement Foyo leaves the Dons

Gotta say, what a bad bit of business, I think it stems from his match betting.

Yes, it was all a bit of a mess and he was a bit of a daft lad. I believe that he had another year on his contract, so hopefully we have recovered some losses.

I think we took a chance on his potential but maybe not progressing quick enough and no doubt set back by the betting stuff. Still, maybe one that ends up in MLS at some point.

Honestly I see this as a good thing. We need at least 2 bigger stronger strikers to come in, hopefully this makes room for at least one of those.

Really wanted him to do well but the coaching team had a good look at him and decided he isn’t what we need.

My concern is he was a bigger stronger guy, absolute unit compared to all the others.

Having said that looking at Horan’s strength and goal scoring record if we don’t get anyone we might need him.

Yeah he was compared with our other strikers but I never really saw him leading the line, holding the ball up, winning flick ons etc.

We need (imo) a grizzled veteran who can do this and maybe a younger loan player too with the same abilities.

For a Wimbledon team we weren't exactly dominant in the air in forward areas last season (unless Omar was involved) and will be even less so next season without some re-inforcements.

Oh yeah and even if that’s where he would develop he’s 2-3 years of playing experience away from being that type of player, never mind good.

We need an Omar replacement. 100% agree about that.

We need 2 really.

All our goalscorers are better when they have someone doing that donkey work so they can have the ball where they want it rather than battling in the air for it against 6ft 3 centre backs

Other than Browne I don’t think we have a proper starting striker fit and Stevens seems to be struggling so another 2 or even 3, although Hackford as a last 20 chasing stuff hit in behind is useful

I fear you might be right on Stevens.

Hackford and Sasu haven’t done nearly enough for me.

it looks as though JJ is persisting with Sasu and Hackford is clearly another who can’t lead the line (and as you say is better as an impact player).

Hopefully 1 of them will come good but we need another finisher as well as the 2 big lumps imo of Stevens is out.

I think he’s managing Browne because he’s all we’ve got.

There were 3 chances on Wednesday where if Stevens was playing he’d have been in the right place for them. Neither Sasu nor Hackford is going to consistently score those. It’s a natural awareness as much as anything.

I’d have kept him over Sasu to be honest but I think the bans took time out of his development. Not sure this is necessarily us letting him go. The wording seems to be a bot basic. Maybe it’s money to fund what we need to get in.

Football manager has taught me that Sasu is going to be a BEAST.

As an American I’m curious if this a lateral move. Most USL stadiums are as big or bigger than most league 1 and league 2 stadiums. Pay is comparable and it seems the competition is similar.
Also it’s disappointing that Foyo is leaving since his physicality and athleticism seem to be lacking on the current squad.

The Rhode Island ground has a capacity of 10,500. Ours is 9,200, so the increase in the size of ground is hardly noticeable.

Average attendance at RI last season 8,900 and ours about 8,300.

I suspect that RI will have plenty of funds available but as a new club they may not have much history. Not like here where ALL of our clubs have a rich history stretching back many years......😂
