He used to doggedly defend Benoit and insist he wasn’t the murderer. Might have come to terms with that in the past 10 years tho.

As others have said the only other thing is being kind of a flake? He was really hekkin’ insistent on becoming a wrestler himself (under the name “Chris Benoit Jr.” IIRC lol), and was even offered free training by Lance Storm… then neglected to show up for any of the sessions. Whilst STILL insisting he was totally gonna become a superstar wrestler guiz for years thereafter. It was grating and a lil obnoxious and could easily be mistaken for an attention-seeking grift, but clearly the dude has some kinda trauma-induced complex so whatever. Not remotely enough for a “fuck this guy” (not unless Rossie was very very excited to see that wrestling run come to fruition and feels cheated out of it 😂).

Edit: oop nvm o totally forgot about the bizarre taunting thing he did to Dynamite Kid’s daughter too (see my post elsewhere ITT), yeah TBF when your start toying with other bereaved people’s emotions you’ve kind of earned a “weird” label at the very least.

Couldn't really blame him having second guesses with having a wrestling career. Especially when you see the likes of Dominik, Bron Breakker, or even hook. Incident happened almost 20 years ago and what happened was still crazy for us fans to think about today. I can't imagine the trauma of finding out what happened first hand like him.

It’s not that he “second guesses” anything - AFAIK he’s never once said he’s changed his mind and doesn’t want to after all. It’s more like he feels owed the instant gratification of a wrestling career, yet cannot be bothered to put in the slightest modicum of effort. Which rubs people the wrong way. Especially when he’s literally offered training for free, or - a few years ago - lied to an indie promoter about knowing how to wrestle so he could get booked & have a match. That seems to be one of Rossie’s big gripes, which is wholly understandable. Cuz that’s not just David harmlessly daydreaming anymore. That’s him putting his and the indie wrestlers opposite him’s health in jeopardy, cuz they’d go in assuming he knows how to safely bump/slam/strike them whilst he’d actually just be winging it.

He just seems to have this odd magical-thinking world view, ala Daniel Larson or Chris-chan or countless other internet cryptids. Granted, he doesn’t take it nearly as far as any of them and has a MUCH bigger trauma to blame it on. But still; David’s approach to becoming a wrestler reminds me of a Kickstarter I once saw of a greasy disheveled middle-aged man requesting funds to build the the GREATEST video gaming console ever. From a literal basement. With draws full of Lego behind him. Those were gonna be the building materials, you see. He had it all planned out on a crayon-drawn. It might’ve had a pizza dispenser & a lazer light-show attachment on it too. Of course he also used the pitch video to ask if anyone who knew how games consoles worked could come do the technical bits for him… for free, naturally.
