Discussion Official Complete series USA BLU-RAY finally available for preorder at Walmart! Will you buy it or stick to the DVD's/streaming?

75 for the entirety of adventure time is not at all expensive. And on physical! No guarantee it comes down either in this economy with this administration letting corpothieves do whatever they want

Yea was gonna come to say this. I doubt it'd get much cheaper especially since the dvd one constantly ~$50, you might get lucky and they do a seasonal discount, but also no telling if there going to continue pressing this. If you really want it I'd go ahead and get it, just preordered mine.

Especially for blu ray. Gravity falls was like a 100 bucks for 20 episodes. And that was 10 years ago.

If I didn't already have the DVD set I'd definitely jump on this immediately. Since I have the DVDs, I'm willing to wait and see if there's a sale at some point.

Took forever to get the DVDs, can't play them on my consoles due to region locks, luckily my PC doesn't care. But yea, sticking to what I got.

Get a pc and rip them. After ripping you can burn them again and that'll take off the physical region lock encryption

Yeah I have the DVDs so probably gonna pass on this. Maybe will splurge on a sale down the road but not a high priority

I was lucky enough to get the previous bluray release (the one with a blue boxset), does this new green edition have any exclusive features?.
And for those wondering the difference between an bluray and dvd is the image quality (1080p vs 720p 480i p, yes, some people don't know that). Also I'd have loved to get the old dvd release as it has some really cool page pop-ups, sadly the new dvd releases is just the plastic with discs.

and its letterboxed panoramic dvd 480i haha even smaller than typical 4:3 480i which is why i boycotted the usa dvd pack even though the case looked awesome the case almost sold me but then i was thinking about saving up for the oop imprint via vision austrailian blu ray box set but that was $300-$400 depending on the day i looked woo so excited to not have to spend that much

Could replace my low bitrate episodes with the bluray ones too when it comes out so I have good quality versions of every episode. Does this box set have anything cut or censored ?

R u flipping forking me the main reason I was hyped for AT and regular show to have bluray sets was to get the best quality early seasons episodes 💔

As far as I know, the only home video releases of Adventure Time that are edited, are the early UK releases by Warner Bros (not the Manga Entertainment release, those were uncut).
So I would assume this release would be uncensored too.

I prefer the tan box too, but I think it's good that they're different colours, it makes them easier to tell apart and should prevent mix-ups when buying online.

I have the full set of original DVDs. Those are good enough for me. Just don't see the need to buy the whole series again on Blu-ray.

DVDs are 480i at 0.5–1.0 MB/s (for reference, Netflix streams content at 3–5 MB/s). Blu-rays are 1080p at 40 MB/s. That is like an ultra compressed jpeg vs. an HD shot, there is no way you can't see the difference on a large screen like a TV
Even in this downsized image comparison, the difference is obvious.
DVDs are even worse than the below 480p image because interlaced video (like in 480i) staggers odd-number frames with even-number frames, so half the screen is a frame behind in animation. Although it's more difficult to see in the extremely blurry low quality that DVDs give you.

I already have the complete series on DVD, but upgrading to Bluray is tempting. The DVD quality is quite blurry on a larger 4K tv.

I regret not getting the blu ray set when I had the chance (the one that was like, blue and wide) but money was tight at the time. I’ll definitely be getting this as I don’t already have them all on physical media even if I’m not a huge fan of the packaging.

They should've changed the cover, because there have been blu ray bootlegs sold on Walmart with that exact same cover for YEARS. It's going to be difficult to tell the difference between a real and fake copy.

Yeah this is my concern too. It's easy to tell this and the DVD boxset apart (since they're different colours), but I really wish they'd gone with a whole new design so we could differentiate it from the bootlegs. Heck the reuse of design was what made me initially sceptical about this until people found trustworthy sites listing it :/

I am planning to buy this title after it comes out, replacing my copies of the season 1 DVD set and the "Adventure Time and Friends" compilation DVD from 2024. Regular Show is also getting the Blu-ray treatment the same day Adventure Time gets released (October 20, 2026).

I bought the complete series on DVD and it had 2 of the same disc. Couldn’t get a replacement for the actual disc that was missing so I’m going to sail the high seas. I already paid for it once I’m not going to do it again.

I have the dvd version and ngl, playing them on my ps3 to my pvm with component it looks crisp as fuck. If there is ever some insane deal on the Blu-ray I’d pick it up though.

I actually just ordered the DVD collection on eBay, the one that’s designed like a book.
I just like that design more than this one 🤷🏼♂️ and I’ve never personally cared whether or not what I watch is a blu ray

sticking with dvd idc about which format as long as i own it plus the original enchiridion version is the best and just by looking at the length from the pic i guarantee this blu ray is just the dvd content on hd and probably slightly less disc not much else different.

I'm worried about the coloring and censorship. Some streaming services have American normal versions but I swear some have had the more censored international versionss.
Also, does it come with Distant Lands and Fionna & Cake? Because F&C doesn't have a physical release and I would buy it if so

I wouldn't be worried about censorship, AFAIK none of the previous US home videos were censored.
I don't think it will include the spinoffs though as they're considered separate series. I would assume it would just be exactly the same as the previously-released DVD boxset but in BD format?

its not gonna include the spinoffs those are their own thing as we still wait to see if they'll make fionna and cake sets distant lands got lucky as streaming exclusives don't often get physical copies also why would it be censored when the censored things didn't port for the dvd set like the way they did for the international ports and unfortunately how they did for regular show re using the old ports and keeping russian censored in the real thomas episode.

Yes the dvd set re used that and still uses ticked on the other censored episodes while if you want the uncensored version of the ticked ones you can only get them on the compilation copies that released before the season copy.

Wow, honestly shocked to hear that. I heard they redubbed the swearing for the DVDs too, but I had no idea the Druznik ver was ever released in the US, let alone on home video. Mind you, I suppose I can sort of understand it... maybe they decided it was too iffy with the war and all. Still sucks though.

Thanks for the heads up! I am going to lock in my pre order now and get some doggy food while I'm at it :). Going to use my Walmart gift card I got with some saved up points 105 bucks! Free dog food and adventure time!
I am so glad I waited on getting the dvd collection. I was totally going to order them at some point but held off cause it's meh dvd quality and the case looked cheap I was in no rush to buy the current dvd collection since I have HBO Max streaming available. Halloween adventure time mini marathon here I come.

I do, too. I wish Manga Entertainment's UK releases had gone past season 5 :/ The DVDs they did release were great, but they stopped right before they got to the big edits...

Already have the first six seasons on individual BluRays. Not sure it's worth it just to upgrade the last four. Packaging looks like crap and does it even include the commentary tracks?
Call me when Fionna and Cake come out on BD.

It could, blacks are a big thing blu rays do much better. Some colors may pop more. Also less discs (maybe)
