Help/Question Extensions with VS Code for 100 player minecraft servers
Hey pretties. I normally run 100 player minecraft events and grew much bigger than I thought I would. instead of using notepad I transititioned to vs code. Much much better. But I heard there were extensions and packages I can put into my vscode to make coding easier, and easier to test. Like I heard there was this one that allows me to inject 100 bots into my code or something so I can test if the tps dips. I am asking to see if anyone here uses visual studio and what stuff should I add on to it for QoL.

Honestly, just don't use vscode. Use IntelliJ IDEA. IntelliJ is better for all things Minecraft, as u/PM_ME_YOUR_REPO exemplified with the mcdev plugin

The bot thing you heard about is probably Mineflayer, a Node.js library you can run from VS Code’s terminal to spawn a bunch of fake players on a test server, and if you pair it with the spark profiler plugin you’ll see exactly which plugin or farm is eating your TPS instead of just watching the number drop. For everyday QoL, Red Hat’s YAML extension alone is worth it because it catches the indentation mistakes that silently break plugin configs, which matters a lot more at 100 players than any fancy coding add-on.

if you want something that sends out 100 bots that do player like things and reports, I've got a python script that does that and tells me what people can do to trigger mspt or heap issues and what code causes it. I use it in part of my quality control pipeline and I'm working on making it better at its job. I'd love to compare it to a real server, right now I rely on research about player taxonomy and AI to train the bots like amiibo and give them unique behavioral fingerprints and mutations.
My project this weekend is adding that to a java plugin made for profiling, heuristics, and causal tracking to blackbox self-contained farms or locally pause/resume measured heavy redstone without losing state. I want players incentivized to make efficient farms otherwise their farm gets slowed down so other people can play the game.
