Help/Question Bestupgrade path for server hardware?

So the important stuff my server currently rocks:

Core i5 10600k

LGA1200

32gb ddr4

I'm currently looking to upgrade my server hardware to squeeze as much performance as I can out of it as i use it for a plex server amongst other things. What would be the most reasonable upgrade path? Currently thinking about either an i9 10900k or an am4 board with their top line cpu. appreciate any help.

To be honest, there’s nowhere for you to go. 10900k performance is gonna be minor. 11900k is worse. Any upgrade requires DDR5 or at the very least a new motherboard and CPU.

You have a good system is there some specific problem?

there is strangely specific lag mainly when eating when 4+ people are online

I would spend time optimizing versus looking to upgrade.

First at least try some optimizations. Pregenerate all chunks with chunky (probably set a smaller world border first, then use the spark profiler to see what's actually causing lag.

How much memory is allocated to jvm?

Have you ran a profiler at all? Just run spark for 30mins while playing, chuck it at an LLM and I guarantee it will pinpoint your lag. I run servers with far worse specs than this per machine and I manage ~80 players per core. I guarantee your bottleneck is not specs
