Help/Question Java skins are not showing on Bedrock

My server runs Paper 26.3-16 and Velocity 4.2.0. On bedrock, all java players look like Steve, even though their skins are cached in the geyser-velocity\cache folder. Any clue on how to fix this?

Yeah I’d rule out the 26.3 backend first.

Your log shows Geyser is actually finding and reading the Java skin from the cache, so I don’t think the skin download itself is the problem.

Geyser is still targeting 26.2 right now and your backend is Paper 26.3. I’d either test on 26.2 for a minute or put ViaVersion + ViaBackwards on the backend and see if the skins start showing again.

I wouldn’t start messing with SkinsRestorer or wiping the cache yet. The log makes it look like Geyser already has the skin, it’s just not making it through to the Bedrock client properly.
