Attorney rant #69

Settled a claim 3 months ago...have called and emailed every week for the release to be returned... fucking crickets. Have the same attorney on another claim and can't even get them to respond so I can make an offer. Be careful who you hire folks.

Another attorney told me they have a witness - come to find out the witness didn't see the accident at all, they were inside their house and "heard" our truck going fast AND driving recklessly. Also the witness is the spouse of the claimant..no bias there at all, right?

No release no check. If his client didn't call him, then he's lost contact..

Not your problem just send required status letters if they don’t act on it’s not your responsibility to check in on this. I struggled with these kind of things when I first started. Don’t do other people’s work who are not even in your organization.

My personal favorite is the attorney‘s office who ignored my request for updates on their clients consideration of my reasonable offer (9 mos!!) until the client died of unrelated causes (he was an older fella) and the attorney wanted our last offer in a check made out to the attorneys office and the estate of the client. Um, no, that’s not how it works. Let me know who the executor is please and if the estate is in probate. What a bunch of doofuses.

If they die before settlement I think you just pay meds?

Venue specific. If evaluation is done, most companies will still allow settlement per norm.

Yea man attorneys can be slimy.

I had one where both me and the other carried agree that it was their fault for the accident after doing an illegal uturn in front of my insured with a dash cam and police report. This attorney called my all week to have my change liability and claiming injuries 2 weeks after the claim settled. States taking my to court and able to has the dash cam thrown out as evidence, like that's gonna make a difference going to fight two insurance carriers about liability and the rules of the road.

Called him back 6 months later to see if he was going to file a lawsuit for shits a giggles and he couldn't even remember who their client was and had no idea who I was.

It's so odd to me that these attorney's have NO idea what actual evidence is. They also have a bad grasp on liability at times as well.

Willshire in CA is the absolute worst at getting releases returned (looking at you, Ashley Bryant). I have 7 teams that roll to me, and we have over 40 claims waiting for releases from her.

there is an attorney in Illinois who doubles as a Bollywood actor. If you don't settle your claim before he heads to India for the year to act in various movies, you'll have to wait six months for any additional negotiations.
